Question about Garden

1 Answer

I purchased an unboxed, without manual, Husky H1506F air compressor from Home Depot and it has stopped working after very limited use. Was I supposed to be oiling it or something? I did smell something, perhaps a burning, beforehand. Is this repairable? Is there a manual online?

The manual is available from http://powertool.manualsonline.com/mdownloads/053542d2-5ea4-4ff0-9302-72ea88716453.pdf

Unless you tried to operate a tool that the compressor wasn't powerful enough for I don't think it would have been possible to do something wrong with it. Have a look at the manual and if you think you did everything right you might be entitled to get a refund or replacement from the seller.

Air compressor cannot spin up with pressure in tank sometimes

There is an unloader valve and a check valve on the discharge side of the pump. The check valve is not holding and the unloader is not dumping the pressure so the compressor cannot start. Since it is new, you may want to take it back. If not you are going to be replacing parts.

the regulator/switches are either rusty, clogged, or need to be replaced. if you have some machanical aptitude and common sense this should be easy, if not have a pro or someone some knowledge of this type of thing handle it for you. in the future drain your compressor DAILY to avoid this problem

    Portable oiless compressor wont pressurize

If there is pressure at the pump, either:

    1) The tank check valve isn't opening (it's located where the line from the head enters the tank - usually extends into the tank, and the the pressure switch unloader line comes off of it as well)
    2) The pressure switch unloader is bleeding off the air. This is a small valve on the side of the pressure switch. It should close when the compressor is running and open when the compressor shuts off to bleed off head pressure.

    Husky air compressor/1.5 hp

Compressors pull a lot of juice that is why they come with a large power cord. If you use a small extension cord with it it will easily pop a breaker. So first check all your breakers. Second thing is check your manual to see if you have a reset switch on you compressor, as most do. It should be a small, red switch (rocker or push button type), located between the pump motor and compressor switch. The third is a long shot, check to see if the bleeder valve is functioning correctly. It will be the small copper tube running from the pump to the switch. Just make sure the small lever is free to move.

If this fails to resolve the problem then it is probably the main switch itself. That is a warranty issue. If it's out of warranty then your going to have to either repair or replace the switch yourself. Please feel free to ask for help if you need it in latter case.
