You have to activate this option from under the settings menu. When you activate or enable it, it would actually put a stamp of the date and time the picture was taken.
You can go through your manual to obtain information on how to do this further.

I want to turn the date stamp off. I do not want it displayed on any of my pictures. I have a Cannon PowerShot A1000 IS

On camera mode press the function/set button. Scroll down to the image size icon, usually the last one down. Select and press left or right to change image size. there's a very good chance that you have it set to the date stamp setting which looks like a picture with a little clock on it. Set it to L to get the best resolution without it stamping the date on. For clearer instructions, see the A1000 IS manual:

I HAVE A CANON POWER SHOT A610 AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO DATE STAMP MY PICTURES. PLEASE HELP

The date stamp will only work when the camera's resolution is set to postcard mode. Press Func/set, scroll down to the bottom, then across to the icon with the clock and mountain. It will say "postcard". Press Func/set again. Then press Menu, scroll down to "Date stamp" and across to select date or date and time, then press menu again.

I want to switch off the date stamp in my pictures taken with A480, please.

Press Menu, scroll down to "Date stamp" and across to select off, date or date and time, then press menu again. The date stamp only works in Postcard mode, so if you set a different picture resolution, that will also stop the pictures being date stamped.

Can not seem to set date to appear on my Canon PowerShot A610 - is it possible? in menu Date Stamp is grayed out

If the current date & time is not set in the root menu, the T&D stamp feature isn't available.

Check your quality settings as well.
My Canon won't allow stamping on portrait-quality prints, or hi-speed settings.

How do I turn off the date and time stamp on my canon powershot sx110?

The menu on the camera controls the date and time stamp. Turn on the menu i camera mode, there are three choices, Camera, Settings and customize. Time stamp should be in the middle menu. Look for time settings and turn it off. All pictures have time and date always. The time/date stamp just makes it visible in the image.

Cannon powershot sd1000 date stamp

No, you can't while they are in the camera. Date and time are added by the camera when it captures the image, so if you didn't have the time/date stamp on when you took the picture, it won't be there. What you could do is upload the pictures to your computer and add the date and time yourself in Paint, IrfanView or another similar program.
