Question about Sony VAIO PCG-K25 Notebook

1 Answer

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NR260E here that persistently toggles the wireless off. The wifi switch on the front of the computer is ON but no light appears. There is no wireless on/off shortcut on the keyboard.

Wifi not working on my sony vaio vgn-nw270f

make sure you turn the wireless switch on. It should be on either side or the front of the laptop.

Did you configure the new router and set the wireless on it?

If your internet provider is a phone company such as AT&T did you configure the router to be PPOE (and set the userid and password) and bridged the modem that goes into the router?

If your internet provider is a cable company did you set the router to be DHCP?

Does the Sony even see the wireless network in the View Available Wireless Networks list?

Did you put the wireless key in correctly?

You didn't by chance happen to hit the FN function key on the lower left portion of the keyboard + the key (F1 thru F12) that toggles the wireless on and off? The correct F1 thru F12 key to hit will have the wireless signal icon )))) or it will have the icon of a tower with the wireless signal )))).

My vaio smart connect has been deactivated ,i think....everytime i try to swich on the bluetooth or lan it says'turn the WIRELESS switch on VAIO to on'

they could be a switch on your laptop that you have to turn on. look for it check on the sides or front.
when is on you should find a light on with a wifi icon.
otherwise look for a wifi simbol on your keyboard usually in a different color meaning you have to press it with the FN key pressed

Sony vaio vgn-nr260e boot partition programs is deleted..please help

VAIO model VGN-NR260E/T is shipped with a recovery partition, it is recommended to create the recovery discs using the same. I understand that your are referring to the same. If you have not created the discs, unfortunately Sony had not made the discs available for download. At this point the best options that I can provide you is..either install a retail version of the OS and then install the drivers from Sony esupport site:

Or, you may purchase the recovery discs online:

Your laptop has a hardware wireless switch to turn on or turn off wireless transmission.
Look for it and make sure it is turned on.
I don't know your laptop model, but the switch is probably located in the font of the computer, besides the SD card slot. It might be marked "Wireless" and when turned a light should signal it.

Were do you find the switch for the wireless on these laptops

It all depends on the Make / Model. Some are physical (hardware) switches and some are software.
VAIO (General) - Switch on front left
VAIO (General, not further identified) - Button (or slide switch) on the Front Left or Right side
VAIO - VGW-AW125T - Button on Front Left, below keyboard
VAIO - VGN-AX570G - Button on Front Left
VAIO - VGN-B2560 - On top left of Keyboard (light say's wireless when on)

Wireless Network stopped detecting ALL local networks

Hi, Have you installed the driver for your wireless card since you re-formatted?

Right click on my computer and go to properties, select device manager. all of your hardware will be listed there. are there any yellow question marks? these are devices that need drivers.

Your wifi card will probably be called 'network adapter'. go to the sony vaio website and download the right driver for your wifi card
