Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

I have a Mitsubishi WD-52525 and notice the color is changing often on the screen. The menu screen is typically blue from Directv and now it is a green background. If I change the channel, sometimes it will go back to true colors and not so green. Not sure where to start. Replaced the lamp cartridge two years ago. Thanks. Kirk

Thanks for the reply. Can you order me a color wheel for my Mitsubishi? I think I can install it if it's not too difficult.

    Let me know.

Classic case of malfunctioning color wheel. You will need to replace the color wheel to resolve this problem. if you are mechanically inclined then you can do this yourself. Let me know if this is the case so that I can find you a replacement.

Ok. My apologies for the delay. Here is the service manual.
    http://www.mediafire.com/?663y384ujceok3...
The color wheel is located on the optical engine. Disassembly is given on page 10-12 of the service manual. The color wheel removal is no shown in the service manual. But it is easy once you get the optical engine off. It is connected to the DMD by means of just one cable and goes into a housing of its own See image
PS:Before you replace any parts of the optical engine it is always a good idea to back up existing data to DM. To do this follow data copy procedure shown on page 12
I could not locate a store that stocks the replacement, so it might be best to contact Mitsubishi parts at 800-553-7278

Mitsubishi wd 52525 lost greens and blues. only colors on screen are red hues.

This the classic symptom for component input wires being crossed. Check color coding on tv input and signal sourse. Green,Blue and Red wires must correspond. If ok Is the color off on the tv menu also. If so and wires are ok replace light engine.

Green horizontal lines on screen no picture

The green CRT's (color picutre tube or color wheel, or ballast) will need to be tested for replacement.
It is quite common with these tv's

You will need an ohmmeter and or voltmeter and test each component for currency and accuracy

Mitsubishi WD-52525

Normal 0 The Mitsubishi WD-52525 has a serious capacitor problem as discussed in this forum overseen by a Mitsubishi certified repair technician: http://www.hometheatershack.com/forums/mitsubishi/11703-problem-mitsubishi-wd-52525-scrambled-picture-no-picture-2.html. There has been a worldwide problem in computers and TVs over thepast several years with faulty electrolytic capacitors (from Taiwan) thatdecay, dry out, swell and die. The power supply is often the firstcomponent to go bad, but other systems also degrade over time. As theforum explains , this problem is widespread in these sets causing multipletypes of display problems after several years of use. On my set, I also got a blue screen with a lighter blue ball in the middle. Mitsubishi is awareof the problem and will cover most of the cost of repairing the chassis, evenyears out of warranty, but apparently ONLY if you get an estimate from aMitsubishi certified repair station and contact their customer support BEFOREdoing any work on the set. I just followed the recommended procedure onthat forum and Mitsubishi is covering half the cost of my $700+ repair when my3+ year-old set recently died and showed only this blue screen on all inputs.

Mitsubishi WD 52525 & PS 3

First make sure your hdmi cable is connected from the PS3 to the TV. Then go to netcommand, review, and make sure "monlink" is checked, click next, and finish. Select "monlink" from your device manager and turn on your PS3. If the screen is blue, go to the next step. Connect the PS3 via regular a/v cables to the front panel "input-3". Create a net-command device for input-3 as well. Switch to the input-3 device you created and turn on your PS3. Choose display settings, and change the settings to HDMI. Then click change. You'll have 30 seconds to hit device manager, change the device to "monlink", and let the PS3 unit know the setting has worked. From there you can configure. Good luck!
