Question about Televison & Video

Open Question

I have a Sharp model BD-HP22U blu ray player and I just upgraded the firmware to P29200900 file HP22_114.mvp, successfully, and I can't play certain DVDs. It keeps on checking for updates and it won't allow me to do another upgrade with the same file. I tried burning a CD and booting with it and it goes to 10% and "FAILS". All I get is a very small screen as it boots up and will not go to a full screen but if I leave my USB stick plugged in, it will play. How can I get around to installing it or downgrading to an earlier version that worked? Sharp does not offer anything on their website. Thanks Vic

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Incompatible Disc in Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-Ray Disc Player

I had the exact same problem as you did... I bought the Sharp Aquos 42D85X which came with Sharp BD-HP21X Blu-ray Disc player. could not get brand new blu-ray movies to play and i found it froze everytime after 10 secs. I phoned sharp who basically were no help watsoever! I then went and returned my blu-ray movies back to the store thinking it was a problem with the discs.. The people there were extremely nice and since they had a display model of the BD-HP21X instore they offered to test the movie on it to veroify whether it was the blu-ray player was the problem or not. Turns out its a fault with all of the BD-HP21X models. So we then ended up returning it back to the store we bought it and exchanged it with the older model (BD-HP20X). I now have no problems playing blu-ray movies. Although another suggestion is to perhaps download the lastest firmware update & see if that resolves your issues.

SOURCE: Sharp Blu-Ray model BD-HP20X locked to region 4 how to unlock ?

Well I Checked my data resources and saw that there are no hacks or tricks for Sharp yet... the only thing you can try doing now is to ask your Dealership if they can unlock the regions for you. I've searched everywhere but couldn't find anything for newer models like HDDVD or Blu-Ray players.

Sorry T_T But let's hope someone might be able to help as well..

SOURCE: BD-HP21U problems playing discs

You have inadvertently downloaded the US (or other region) version of the firmware. Unfortunately if you try and download the UK version the HP21 just tells you you have already installed it. I was told mine the only way to reset it is for it to be sent to Sharp or you can wait for a new firmware update.

I have up dated a sharp BD HP22 blueray player so it plays new bluerays, but now it doesnt play normal dvds, what can i do. thanks

Check the DVD code written at the back of the player ( 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 ) and see if your disc code matches if not it will not play once you update the firmware. You see many of the players sold in the market have the DVD codes unlocked, but once you update the firmware it automatically goes back to its native region.

Will not play blu ray discs I went to sharp to

Go to sharp's website, www.sharpusa.com Then hover over customer support, then click on product downloads. Select product type Blu-ray disc players select Model not listed(in your case) model not listed (Now type in your model number if it's not listed) Select Download type Firmware You'll get two results. Click the top one (The bottom one is the instructions) It'll say Do you want to open or save this file Click SAVE Save it to your desktop NOT to the usb When it's done downloading click "Open folder" Then double click on the file. It should be named, "DVD_SOFT..." ect. The file inside will end with the letters "rvp" or "mvp" Right click on it and click COPY Then, open up your blank (4 gigs or less) USB Right click in the middle of the folder and click paste. Then close the page and take out usb. Put usb in back of blu-ray. Power on blu-ray W/OUT disc inside. When it gets to the home screen, press SETUP button on remote. Choose SETTINGS Then SOFTWARE UPDATE It'll ask you to insert USB, click OK. It will detect the usb and the file. If any problems, Call sharp 800-BES-HARP (800-237-4277)

Blue ray won't play Avatar?

There is a firmware update for the BD-HP22. I had the same problem with Avatar but after I installed the firmware update, it loaded and ran smooth. Use the USB flash drive that came with the player or any other usb flash drive to load the firmware update. Check the link below for instructions and update file from Sharp's website.

I downloaded to the latest firmwire update to my usb for the sharp bd-hp22u player and when i try to install it it keeps saying no update found and i tried two different usb's and the player keeps sayin no...

I had the exact same problem! I realized though that I had to extract the Zipped files so my Sharp BD-HP22U could read them. Basically, I extracted the files onto another USB then placed that into my player and it finally recognized the files and began downloading the update. Avatar (Blu-ray), now plays! However, the chapter selection pops up on and off the screen during play. I guess I'll have to figure that out now. Anyone know how to fix that?

I bought a blue ray player model bd-hp210 and it will not play some disk. I have tried to down load the upgrade firmware but since I have MAC computer it will not work. Is there firmware available to fix...

In order to install the update, download the file here: http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx Then unzip the file, and burn the .MVP file to a disc using your finder. Then insert the disc into the player and it will automatically shut off giving you a message stating that the update will start as soon and the player shuts off. then the update will install itself.

How do i unlock the region code on my new sharp blu-ray model BD-HP22X?

You could try >Menu >settings >parental control> "set a 4 digit password" then change the region code to your country.

Unless you have my problem and updated the firmware incorrectly and nothing changes it...

I have a sharp bd-hp21u model blu-ray disc player. I am trying to use a brand new blu-ray disc. However, it will only play for 17 seconds and goes blank. What shd I do? It will play regualr dvd's.

Verify version of the firmware, if it is older then PN9062300, you will have to upgrade it. Newer version of the firmware can be found here. For instruction on upgrade procedure refer to the owner's manual.

Hi i have a sharp hp22 i ham trying to play normal dvds on it ? is that possible

All Blu Ray players that I have dealt with are what is termed "backwards compatible" which means they play Blu Ray, standard DVDs,music CDs,MP3s,recorded CDs and DVDs, etc. yours should have no problem reading and playing back your "normal" DVDs. Good luck !
