Hello pungli,

two things. first the water solenoid that controls the water to the dispenser. check it for resistance and presence of voltage when you press the lever to get some water. if there are no resistance, replace the solenoid. if there is resistance and there is voltage, solenoid could have been stuck close. if there is resistance and there is no voltage then the second thing..

second , is the switch that sends voltage to the solenoid valve. when you press the lever, it pushes a switch to send a voltage to the solenoid valve to let water in and comes out at the dispenser. try to check that switch for continuity and on and off as you press the lever.

i hope i was able to solve your problem. please rate me..tnx..

Samsung side by side ice maker not working

You have 2 separate valves, 1 for the water dispenser and 1 for the ice maker. (otherwise your ice maker would overflow every time you got water from the dispenser and your dispenser would flow every time the ice maker went to refill.) They are fed from the same tubing.

The cube/crushed ice motor is completely separate from the ice maker itself and should have absolutely no bearing on the water flow.

You have narrowed down the problem quite nicely to the ice maker water valve. There is one more thing to check though, the connector. There should be a multi-contact connector from the ice maker to the back wall of the freezer, usually 6-9 wires. Pull that apart and check the cord side (ice maker side) for any corrosion. BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE OTHER SIDE AS THERE IS LIVE 110V!!! If you don't see any corrosion, still try try disconnecting and reconnecting 5-10 times and see if that solves your problem. If you see corrosion, unplug the refrigerator before working on the back wall part of the connector. [This connector besides powering the ice maker also allows the ice maker to control the water valve which can't be inside the freezer]

Ice maker and water dispenser

If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working correctly the water supply tube(s) may be blocked. This will be difficult to track down. Look for a connection point at the bottom or top of the door, try removing the hose and blowing air through it and out the dispenser. Next it could be the water valve that sometimes has twin valves for ice and water combined (this is most likely the culprit) , third is low pressure into the line (bad main valve) or clogged filter... you need about 20psi for function. Last is the door switch (try this first), when the freezer door is opened the freezer door switch does two things, it turns on the light in the freezer and turns off the ice and water dispenser. If the door switch fails the dispenser will not turn on or may just dispense one item. The switch can be checked for continuity with an Ohm meter. If it doesn't have continuity it should be replaced.

The water dispenser is not working, I have checked the ice maker which seems to be filling fine and all hoses etc are connected and working, any ideas?

the ice maker has a different solenoid that works it so id say either the switch on the door or the other water solenoid is at fault

On advice from the tech I removed acess door. It was covered by frozen moisture.
I removed the motor it was full of water. I verified 120 volts at plug to motor from control
by depressing the door switch and ice dispenser lever at same time. The motor ohms out
but because of amount of water removed from it I am going to replace it and see what happens.

You could have a layer of solid ice at the bottom of your icetray. Remove icetray. Remove any ice in bottom. Reinstall. Be careful there is a connection on the rear of the icetray, you may have to turn it to get it to mesh correctly. Fill with ice and it should work fine. Good Luck.
