A very common problem with these washers is that the switch that senses when the lid is closed goes bad. The washer won't spin if it thinks the lid is open. This switch is located in the rear right hand corner of the washer opening. It is an oval hole with two small phillips head screws adjacent to it. You might take a pen or pencil and push down on the switch in the opening. If you don't hear or feel a distinct click, the switch is probably bad, but it could still be bad even if you hear a click. If you unscrew the two phillips head screws, you might be able to work the switch out to where you can check it out more closely. If you can determine this is indeed your problem, you should be able to buy one online at a reasonable price, and you might be able to search this site for complete directions how to replace the switch.

Is the pump pumping? Have you cleaned all the drain lines including the discharge hose? You may have nothing in the pump but it could be blocked somewhere else.

Clothes are sooaking wet when cycle finishes and they smell bad

The wetness is due to the spin cycle either not working properly or not being allowed to finish. For the smell, with the washer empty, run a cycle on hot/whites with bleach only, after the first cycle drains, open the washer and add more bleach directly into the washer.

Whirlpool top Loading washing machine won't spin on spin cycle

If the washer won't finish a spin cycle, it probably means that your timer went bad or stalled. You can take the control panel off and look at the contacts for scorching or corrosion.
