Question about Ovens

1 Answer

Oven was operated in Cleaning mode after Christmas. Now it does not heat in any mode. None of the elements heat whatsoever. Have checked 240v breaker - it is okay. Control Panel appears to operate okay. Control Panel indicates it is warming, but it never happens. Is there a "limit switch" somewhere that may have opened?

    The expert responded that my problem was probably the control board. I am glad that i inveatagated further on my own. The problem was a "thermal overload fuse". When I went to purchase a new fuse, I was told that this is a common occurance when using Self Cleaning Mode.

    Oven is repaired!!! Was not control board!!! Problem was the "thermal overload fuse" had opened during selfcleaning. I am glad I found this before I went out and purchased a "Control Board".

The control board is what operates the elements in the oven. It tells the elements to come on. If the broil or the bake elements are not working, then more than likely you are looking at the control board. You can try turning the breaker off for about 20 minutes. This will let the control board reset. If the oven will still not heat, then I would say that you are going to have to replace the control board.

Oven will not heat. all the burners on top work fine. what could be wrong?

Usual faults in this order are:
Faulty oven element - check element for holes, blow marks etc;
Burnt off wiring at the oven element terminals - check terminals;
If the oven indicator lights when the oven is turned on it should be the above. If it does not refer below;
Electronic clock set to auto. mode instead of manual mode.

Hi,
The self clean or self destruct mode has burnt a wire, the relay, or the control...

A tech with an electrical meter will need to check through the wiring and see what burnt up...

The oven isn't heating up.

Hi ,and welcome to fixya.
Make sure that the timer is set to manual, and not on auto, or the oven will not work.
If it is a fan assisted oven and the fan is working, then you wiil probably find that the oven element has gone, you will find this located behind a removable cover at the rear of the oven.
It is a very straight forward job to replace same.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks, and a merry xmas.

Oven cleaning bosch oven

self cleaning is sometimes a cycle called PYRO clean / look for the setting with a really high temp. self cleaning is a programmes require a massive amount of heat and will smoke a lot when on , so dont be alarmed! most oven when on self cleaning mode will automaticly lock the door due to the high heat involved in the process. so remember to remove pans etc. from inside.

Electric Oven Won't Heat

Rob, sounds like it was just installed. You need 240V on this unit. On the terminal block in back where the power hooks up, it should read 240V across the two outer terminals and 120V from each end to center terminal. Im ruling out the thermal cut out because you never used it. I would start with the power source first. The display sounds like it's getting the 120V it needs to funtion, but I don't think your making the loop for the 240V needed for the bake and broil. Catriver.
