Question about Cooling System for Buick Regal Gran Sport
I see your question is five days old, but I will go ahead and answer it for you, just in case you haven't done it yet. The only thing you will need for this is a gallon of antifreeze. First, jack up the front of the car so the radiator is higher than the engine. Remove the radiator cap. Start the engine, put the heater on full hot, but do not turn it on. Let the engine run so it gets to normal temperature. Watch the coolant level in the radiator. When the thermostat opens, the coolant level will drop. Add enough antifreeze to bring it back up to full, and wait for it to drop again. Add more antifreeze. Do this each time the level drops. It may do this for a while, until the system is full of liquid and all the air has been displaced. If the thermostat closes whole you are doing this, some antifreeze will over flow out of the radiator. Not to worry. Just let it go until the thermostat opens up again and replace the lost antifreeze until the radiator is full. If the coolant level has stabilized and no longer drops, put the radiator cap back on and lower the front of the car. Turn off engine. Make sure the overflow reservoir has the proper amount of antifreeze in it and your done.
