My update last month has caused numerous message problems and doesn't seem to absorb that I did in fact update my subscription. HELP.

Well, when you renewed your subscription online, you just renewed it on the symantec end. So what you need to do next is open your Norton program, and go to "My Norton Account" or "subscription". Then you need to sign into your norton account from within the Norton Application and it will update your subscription status.

You have experienced a system emergency shutdown. In otherwords, your computer crashed. You can:
1: reinstall your operating system.
2: use a OS recovery disk to reboot the system.
3: send the computer to a data recovery specialist.
4: return the computer if the warranty is still valid.

Good Luck!

I have norton all in 1, but im still getting security alerts not from norton, telling me i have 45 threats and telling me my anti-virus will not protect me from this threat.

Make sure that you run your antivirus as soon as possible.

If you don't run it regularly, you might be out of luck. When your computer becomes infected with a virus and you don't take care of it right away, the virus replicates. The longer the problem is unsolved, the harder it will be to remove it.

This is what I would do:

Update Norton and then run a complete scan. If Norton doesn't catch all of it then we'll try a more drastic measure.

You can go to this site: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and us The Ultimate Boot CD to fix your problem. The ultimate boot cd gives you a ton of applications to fix a variety of problems. Many IT companies have discs similar to this. It is an amazing tool that helps out a lot.

What you'll need to do is download The Ultimate Boot CD and burn it to a CD. Afterwards put the disk back into your computer and run it from startup. From there you can run the antivirus programs that are on the disk to remove the threats.

This is ususally a more effective way of removing threats like this because it gives you several programs to remove malicious software.

Dell Hard Drive

If possible go here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Scan your entire hard drive and let Trend take care of the dirty work. Being quarantined doesn't mean deleted. You should ditch Norton and Get AVG. Its free and just as good.

Let's hope for the best

If your not able to get into the bios, your problem may lay there. Since your bios tells your computer how to run (as you probably already know) then it may not be telling your computer how to run. Try testing the battery on your board with a voltage tester, or just buy a new one. Try a few different things and try to get into your bios (like disconnect all drives). If you think your hd is dead, run a hd test with your computer as a slave. You can also try using a program Norton partition magic to scan the drive and see if its alright. (very powerful program). Make sure you do a full scan on it to make sure that its not physically damaged, like the mbr being permanently damaged by the drive becoming unbalanced. Good luck
