Question about EliteGroup Computers & Internet

Installed RAM and now monitor has no display. I

Installed RAM and now monitor has no display. I recently installed a stick of 1 GB ram on my computer. I have an EliteGroup 865G-M motherboard (http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=411&CategoryID=1&MenuID=18&LanID=9 ) and I am running Windows XP. It has 4 slots and supports up to 4 GB of RAM. I had 2 sticks of 256 MB RAM in the blue slots already and added the additional 1GB stick. The computer boots up without a problem but now my monitor just gives me a black screen. It initially starts up showing the LG Flatron logo but then shows analog power saving mode and goes blank. Please help!

The splash screen with the LG Flatron logo is the monitor's splash screen not the PCs.
The machine is NOT booting up the splash screen is the monitor coming on.
Remove the 1Gb stick an see if the machine performs normally.
If it does then power it off, remove the power cord and CAREFULLY reinstall the new stick.
If it fails to boot you may have a defective memory module.
If the machine fails to boot with the new stick removed make sure you have the original memory seated properly and all cables securely attached

I removed teh 1Gb stick and the original memory is seated properly just as it was before I started. However, I am still having the same problem.

When you turn the PC on do you get any lights on the front of the machine?
At minimum there should be a green power light.
Insure the power cord is seated

Installed 2 GB of Ram (both 3200 1 GB chips). PC would not boot coorectly with 2 GB installed (errors galore). However PC runs fine with only one 1GB installed. Running XP ?

Both ram sticks must be identical to work together. A different manufacturer of one can cause all kinds of problems. Did you go to 'setup' to make sure the machine recognized the second stick? The cure is likely to be purchasing another stick identical to the other new stick. Hope this helps!

Hi I have intel motherboard D945GCNL with Dynet 1 GB ram installed. I boght a new Dynet 1gb ram and installed it. After that, my cpu began beeping. So I removed the ram and interchanged the rams.It doesn't...

Your RAM needs to be:

  • DDR2 667, DDR2 533 or DDR2 400 MHz SDRAM DIMMs
  • Non-ECC DIMMs
  • 2 GB maximum total system memory
  • Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported

  • Make sure the New RAM is not bad.

Ensure that the new RAM is the same type as your old one (DDR2 XXX)

Install the old one back and make sure that your PC works.

If it does, Take the Old RAM out and install the New RAM in the same slot as the old one.

If the PC does not work with the new one, It is more than likely a bad stick of RAM

    Hope this helps

I have a motherboard called d102ggc2 with max 2 GB capacity. I recently tried upgrading from 1 GB ram to 2 GB ram by adding another 1 GB stick. The problem is that both the sticks are not working together...

Sounds like the second RAM stick was placed in the wrong slot. I would suggest checking your motherboard manual to determine this. Some motherboard designs have unusual slot arrangements.

    2 rams nt working simultaneously

Are they exactly the same brand and model? Sometimes they dont like to mix and match. Say you have the Left and right ram slot. Does each single stick work alone in the left and the right slot? Sounds like you may have a dead ram slot.. :(

    Memory problems

    Hi,
If you are sure your motherboard can handle a 1 GB RAM stick, then the general answer is that the motherboard can not run High Density RAM stick as yours is possibly. You might need to exchange it for a stick of Low Density RAM.

According to some quick research, it says your motherboard can only read up to 2 GB TOTAL of RAM even if you have more installed.

    No display after upgrading RAM

Are you saying that there are only 2 slots for ram or 4, if 4 then you may have a dual channel lap top, in which case you need all of the ram to match, they all have to be the same exact ram.you cant mix and match, also is the bios recent, it sounds like you may need a bios flash if the laptop isn't recent. And there may be a limitation on the amount of ram it takes, I just setup a brand new acer and it only two gig max, see if they offer a bios update

    Hi,

Make sure the RAM you bought is on the QVL (Qualified Vendors List) for that motherboard. I know I have had problems with ASUS motherboards and OCZ ram before (for example).

As for the monitor, what do you mean "my Monitor gets disturbed"?
