Do you have the right size bobbin inserted? Is the case inserted correctly? If these are not the problem, I would call Janome and find out what is causing this if it has just started.

Try these suggestions

1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed

2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide

3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case

4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever

5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads

6. Check to make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged

7. Make sure the bobbin case is correctly in the machine,, if it's a top loading bobbin you may need to have the bobbin case checked to see if it's damaged or see if the hook and hook race has a problem

8. Also could be a timing problem, and the machine would need to be checked.

The bobbin housing in singer model 9410 keeps moving out of position

After you put the bobbin case in, release it, and then pull on it to make sure it is in correctly.
The gathering is called a "bird's nest", and is caused by the machine not being threaded correctly.
Rethread the machine top and bobbin.
Then, sew a test stitch on a scrap of like material.

try a different bobbin
if changing the bobbin doesn't help then the hook and hook race
needs to be checked to see if there is a problem with them

This morning the top loading bobbin cover wouldn't quite fit right - I thought something was wrong. When I sewed it jammed seriously - and the bobbin case popped out. I realized after a solid year of...

Unthread the machine and remove the bobbin case. Check the bobbin case for any nicks, cuts or burrs and polish them off with very fine sandpaper. Replace and rethread and see what happens.

When I try to sew, the bobbin bangs around, like it doesn't fit.

Is it the bobbin or the bobbin case that is banging around? If I don't seat my bobbin case properly, it rattles and eventually falls out. Your bobbin case may be damaged, in which case, the bobbin is not going to fit properly. I dropped and stepped on my bobbin case once and the machine had the same symptoms. Then there's the obvious answer, a wrong size bobbin got mixed up with your bobbins. I've had that happen when I've taken a class with others. We all share tools and sometimes the right ones don't get back to their proper owner.
