Hi there, I have made a video and posted it on my website to show you what to look for to fix this problem. Here is the direct link. How do I check the clutch or brush roller of my Dyson DC07?. (video)
Basically there are only a couple of things that can be the cause 1. The roller brush bearings are siezed. 2. The clutch to motor belt is broken or stretched (there are 2 belts on this model) 3. The clutch is faulty. Anyway watch the video and it will guide you through the process of fixing the problem. If you find you need a spare part i would check out Vacuumspot or Nelson Vacuums. Finally if this guide is helpful please take a moment to leave a comment or a rating

The brushes on my Panasonic upright vacuum cleaner are not going around but the belt is

Sounds like one of two things possible. The belt may have stretched and is no longer applying enough tension on the brush or the brush is jammed and unable to turn.

The beater brush doesnt work on the carpet and makes a loud squeeking noise. It looks like the brush sticks out past the base and gets stuck on the carpet . Works good on the bare floor.

It seems that your drive belt for the beater brush is stretched. This is a common problem -- if you flip the vacuum over so you are looking at the bottom, you should see several screws holding a faceplate in place. Unscrew these, and you should be able to get access to the beater brush and belt. Pull on the belt a little -- if it has a lot of give, or seems stretched or cracked, replace the belt and your vacuum should be fine. If it is not stretched or cracked, move the belt and look between the belt and where it holds onto the brush (there should be a little groove that the belt is sitting it). If there is a lot of debris or hair (I have long hair and this happens to me quite often) between the belt and the brush bar, clean it out, and you should be good. The squeaking noise leads me to believe that the belt is stretched and could be replaced.

Green light does not come on ans brush does not move. belt is good and brush does spin manually.

I assume this is a Kirby. The belt is not on the motor shaft if you can turn the brush manually. Remove the head, turn the belt lifter assembly clockwise to stretch the belt into a loop, place the head back onto the motor unit and latch it in place, then turn the belt lifter counterclockwise to drop the belt onto the motor shaft.

I replaced the belt in our Eureka Boss Smart Vac, it still seems loose, it uses a type R belt. The beater belt still doesn't seem to turn properly and seems that it doesn't pick up very well when I use it...

Check to see that the beater brush is not frozen up. Pull the brush and clean it, spraying some WD40 on each end piece that holds the brush in place. Also be sure the belt is properly installed so that the brush turns in the correct direction. If the brush is not turning or not turning in the correct direction, it will not beat the dirt from the carpet so that it can be picked up by the vacuum's suction.

Hair and dust build up under the end caps of the brush roll and cause friction. Replace the brush roll and belt. Be sure to clean the brush roll frequently after use.

The roller stop rotating

Remove the brush assembly from the base unit and check the condition of the drive belt. Check the brush end bearings for wound-up thread, hair, and other debris. Place the brush back without the belt--it should spin freely. Reinstall the belt if it is in good condition and check for motor running of the brush. If it seems weak, replace the belt. Hope this helps!

First off get a new belt, I am sure this one has stretched. Then put the belt around the brush roll, put it in the center, put the bottom plate back on. Then turn the big knob on the front and turn it until it locks, you will know if it grabbed the belt, it will be hard to turn. Then install the nozzle back on the vac, lock it down, turn the knob again and it will release the belt on he pulley.
