Are you using the touch-pad or an external mouse? If you are using the touch-pad then hook up an external mouse probably the mouse was not compatible with your system. Did you browse the web lately? Probably you have acquired a virus while surfing. You could scan your system with a known good anti-virus or download and burn a bootable Cd version of it in other system if you can no longer use your laptop. Did you drop your laptop? Probably the hard drive was going to a slow breakdown.
