The headset you have is a Telephone headset used by the companies that provide customer service. Telephone headsets connect to a fixed-line telephone system. A telephone headset functions by Replacing the handset of a telephone. All telephone headsets come in a standard 4P4C Commonly Called an RJ-9 connector.

Computer headsets generally come in two connecting types, standard 3.5 mm & USBconnection. General 3.5 mm computer headset comes with two 3.5 mm connectors, one connecting to microphone jack (line-in) and one connecting to speaker jack (line-out) of the computer. 3.5 mm Computer Headsets connect to the computer via a Soundcard - which converts the digital signal of the computer to analog signal for the headset. USB computer headset connects to the computer via USB ports, and the audio conversion occurs in the headset or in the control unit of the headset. To ensure a headset can properly pair with a telephone, telephone adaptors or pin-alignment adaptors are available in the market. (See on the photo) Some of these adaptors also provide mute function and handset/headset switch.

As an alternative u can do this (i am using this solution till date)

If u cant install the sound driver correctly, just buy a " USB Sound Adaptor" and connect it to the USB port and connect the speaker sound jack to the sound port in this adaptor....u will get back the sound....also keep in mind that u " may " have to disable onboard sound in BIOS, u may also have to make changes in the Control Panel / Sound and Audio Devices / Audio Tab / Sound Playback option... Click the drop down button and select the "USB Audio Devices/Headset"

You can get it in Ebay for $1 to $4 or google it to locate a place near u......

This is the one i am refering to(I bought it in Ebay for 1$)....u can buy something similar also....there are many available mfd from China, just plug and play on your USB port....

Notebook Connection to TV

Check to see if your TV has a VGA or DVI input. If it does then buy a DVI to USB adapter or VGA to USB adapter. Each of the adapters cost around $30-60 US Dollars depending on the quality. Then use male-to-male VGA or DVI wire from TV to adapter, then adapter to PC. Good Luck.
