Question about XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8500 Graphic Card

2 Answers

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT video card and a single green, red, and blue vertical lines appear about 1" from the left side of my display. I have updated the driver and the lines sometimes go away but come back.

I was guessing that this may be necessary. What is interesting that I focused on the Gateway FPD2485W LCD monitor connected and from it's menu I changed the Input Select to composite causing there to no be a signal going to the monitor and the monitor automatically switched back to the DVI and the lines were gone.

I'm not sure that you received my comment to your solution but this is what happened. While changing parameters in my monitor and the graphics card, the lines went away. But when I powered up this morning, they were back. So I focus on the Gateway FPD2485W LCD monitor that is connected to make sure it was not the problem. I changed the Input Select on the monitor menu to "composite" (that is not connected), the monitor sensed 'no signal' but automatically switched itself back to the active signal line and the colored lines were gone. However, I'm sure they will be back. I might double check that that the problem is in the graphics card as you stated by switching to a different monitor to see that the lines are still there.

Hi,

According to your problem first check your video card compatible with your motherboard.

Make sure the card is properly inserted in your motherboard slot.

check it don't touch another component of your system unwanted.

It may sort with another component of your system.

If the pc works the same when you boot in Safe Mode then the video card has failed - buy a new one.
If the pc works in Safe Mode then the video driver is corrupted - uninstall it then reboot normally then go here and download the latest available driver.

Nvidia geforce 8800 gts code 43 due to vista home premium

Well if you installed the correct drivers for your video card and have the proper power supply requirements, then the vertical lines you're getting most likely indicate that your video card is bad.

Try it in another computer if available, or get another video card.

Have you removed the old drivers and reinstalled the new ones... i.e right click GeForce 6100, uninstall, then reload the drivers you got with the GF 8500
