    Hi agent Allan,

I worked out that the 2GB(M) card was too large for the A340 so I tried a 1GB(H) card and it worked fine,In a moment of madness I also bought the FUJIFILM FINEPIX S1000 fd camera, so the 2GB card did not go to waste,As I have only tried the new camera for a dozen shots, I am very happy with it. I gave the A340 to the kids so they can photograph their holiday.

    Many Thanks

    Peter (Delyth's Husband)

Hey Delyth,
What you need to do is format the memory card to work in this particular camera. Directions on how to do this are on page 50 of your camera manual, and I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual incase you need it. Formatting the memory card in this camera is done in the set up menu. Keep in mind every time you format your memory card all current images on the card will be erased so upload them to your computer first. I hope this helps!

How to initialized this card with out losing my pictures.

Not sure what you mean here. Have you already initialised the card and lost photos or do you want to initialise it without losing pictures already on it?
If it's the first part you need to use some recovery software to get your pictures back.
If its the second - you can't. Initialising a card will wipe the photos - and then you are back at 1 and will have to use some recovery software.
The only way you can do it is to copy all the photos off the card first - then it doesn'r matter.
Alternatively - buy another card.

Initialising 5Gb micro disk for Fujifilm M603

There is a limitation with this camera and the size of memory cards it can handle. Larger cards than 1GB, are not recognized properly. You can however use larger cards if you format the card in the camera using the USB cable connected to your PC. Just connect the camera to your PC. In windows explorer select the camera drive, right-click and select "format". I have used this to get a 2GB card working with my 603. Beware that files larger than 1GB can not be stored on the card. I once had been recording a video at concert for about 30 minutes with the 2GB card installed (the camera got really hot during this shooting!). When hitting the record button again to save this giant clip, I got an error message "write error" I was a sad puppy that night.
