You need to pair the headset with the base.
To do this first place the headset in the charging cradle for at least 15 minutes.
Next remove the headset from the cradle and turn it on, do this by sliding the small black button over the + and - symbols up. You may have to hold it for a couple of seconds.
Next press down on the call answer/end button and the + volume button at the same time, hold until you see blue and red flashing lights on the headset.
Next on the back side of the charging base press and hold the + and - mic volume buttons until the blue and red lights on the base start to flash.
Now place the headset back in the charging cradle and wait for the blue light to stop flashing and just stay on.
That's it your headset is now "paired"

I was searching for this today and happened to find the above on the plantronics website. It definitely frustrated me till I found out about how to put the base in pairing mode.

The Plantronics 510s system includes the 500A base and the Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset. Number "one" on the lower back of the 500A base is the loudest setting for your listening volume, I would also check to make sure that the compatibility setting on the left side of the 500A base is set to "one", so the number one should be lined up in the 3 o'clock position (which would also be lined up with the ridged area to the right). Number one compatibility setting is the most common setting for most phones. You can also try using the headset with a cell phone to see if the volume adjusts or not, if it still doesn't work properly, maybe the headset is just wearing out. I can't get the blue light to come on top of the base. The red lught keeps flashing and the amber light is lit. Plantronics 500a headset


The Plantronics 500A is the base for the 510S system, the headset may need to be re-paired to the base unit to make sure that it has a strong link or connection. Here are the links below for the pairing instructions, and also the user guide.

While the headset works frequently, it will suddenly stop. Nothing I do will allow it to connect again. I hear nothing through the headset after the initial beep that indicates headset mode was enabled. ...


It sounds like the battery is no longer holding a good charge. There is no replacement battery for this headset. If you are using the original 510 headset you can replace it or pair a different bluetooth headset up to the 500A base. Just keep in mind if you decide on a different style of headset you will not be able to charge it in your base. I have included the link for the 510 replacement headset below.

Can sync earpiece to base. Please help.


Here are the pairing instructions for your Plantronics Voyager 500A base:
On the base, press and hold both speak volume fine adjust buttons until the blue talk/on line indicator light and red power indicator light start to flash.
Now put the headset into paring mode that you will be using with the base.
Pairing is complete when the talk/on line indicator on base illuminates solidly.

The red light and blue light in on permanently. The earpiece has been charged all night but when I push the earpiece to sync, the blue light on top of the base doesn't flash therefore no connection. Please...


Unplug the AC power from the Plantronics 500A base, leave it unplugged at least overnight if possible, no lights should be illuminated on the base. Then plug the power back in, charge the headset, and try re-pairing the headset to the Plantronics 500A base unit. Here is the link for the pairing instructions:
