If your tv has a VGA socket suitable for a computer then all you require is to set your laptop resolution to suit your tv screen and a VGA plug to plug lead and you're watching video's.

You can eliminate Graphic Adapter. So the things to check are, Monitor, backlighting, inverter, ribbon cable, on the rear of the monitor, pinched wires, on/off switch, that controls the backlighting when the lid is opened or closed. you should be able to right click on an empty space on your desktop and choose graphics properties and then the output option should be able to be set and the resolution changed if needed, set your tv for AV3 or s video and connect a seperate audio cable as s video is video only
