When i use the sound recorder the recording is loud static the sound meter is moving up and down without talking

actually there is a feedback in your computer. try to elevate your laptop and see what happens. I believe it will stop the loud static. before it had happened to me and fix it by trial and error in the control panel > sounds > recording.

You might also want to try removing the Audio driver by Right Clicking on the My Computer > Advance >Device Manger then Click the Sound then right click uninstall the driver. Then try restarting

How do I fix bad static? Dell W3706MC 37 in. HDTV LCD has been fine and suddenly the sound has loud static on all sources. Is this a sound circuit failure?

Yes,loud static usually comes from bad isolation of sound signal path so it's probably a frayed cable or a loose jack. Or if you're unlucky some parts inside have failed.

Sound will go to loud static noise, but picture is fine

it sounds like you need someone to look at it for you so fix it under warrenty if you can. Maybe buy a set top box and source your sound from there. also buy 5.1 surround (if you like as its a excuse to upgrade) for your speakers.

Worked fine yesterday, today zilch !!

One computer I fixed had its internal power regulation confused. With the AC adapter plugged in, holding the power switch down for twelve seconds, then pressing it again, switched it back on. This sort of problem can come from a variety of causes, though. There is an internal power distribution chip which could have received a static electric shock or power surge and gotten cooked. The RAM could have gone bad. The socket where the adapter plugs into the computer could have been cracked loose. Check the power switch and then RAM first, and write more if that doesn't fix it.

Pioneer VSX-D85OS very loud static through speakers.

Its over heating no cheap fix. But wait if u buy an eternal fan n place it on top or behind it will do the trick. Try blowing on top when static happens n sound comes back on.

This is caused by either a defective antenna or the ground to the antenna.
