Hi you can change your dvd drive to region 4 but beware that you are only allowed to change the region a limited number of times, it will tell you how many changes you have left.
Go into your control panel then device manager, open DVD/CD ROM then open your installed dvd drive. There should be a dvd region tab select this and there you will see all regions you can change to.
Remember you can only make a limited number of changes!

You will need to contact HP and request a "regionalization reset". To perform the reset you will need access to your computer and printer as well as a set of cartrdiges for your new region while on the phone with HP. Once the region has been reset the original (US region) cartridges will no longer work in your printer.

DVD's wont play - says wrong region but they are compatible

To change the Region code on your player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVD from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software that allows you to play DVDs from any region. There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free

DVD Player region coding changes

You can only change the region code 4 times then it locks on the last change.
There are some firmware upgrades that can change the drive to region free, if you can screw it up or put in the wrong frmware upgrade then the DVD drive will be a piece on junk.
I suggest you install a region free software that will allow you to play and region DVDs.
Go to www.dvdidle.com to get their Region-Free software, it is not very expensive.
