Replacing ink cartridge

Hello!

1. Start with your printer turn on.
2. Lift the ADF scanning unit together with the flatbed scanner glass unit.
3. Wait for the cartridge carriage unit to position itself in the middle.
4. Once ink cartridge carrier in the middle, lift up the carrier lock lever.
5. Remove the black or colored cartridge and replace it, once lever is unlock.
6. Once replaced, return back the lock lever, then return back the top cover lid.

Scanner stops partway along path, motor whines

There is an obstacle in the scanner path, or the scanning head guides got bent (unlikely). There could also be something in the rubber drive belt driving the scanning head gears. Try looking inside with a light and check for scratches on the guide. Unfortunately, to fix the problem you'll have to either send the scanner to maintenance, or to open it yourself (voiding the warranty).

Fujitsu fi-4340c scanner not scanning all of back side of page

these rear camers get the board that has the CCD chip on it come loose from the camera. take off the ADF cover, at the from of the rear camera you will see the board held on with 2 screws, there have probably come loose. you will need to tighten them up with the board in the right place to allow the image from the camera to be focused on this chip. it will take you a while to get it in the correct place, but once you have it correct, the image will be perfect again. let me know how you get on

Scanner does not scan. It seems to be jammed, stuck.

Thanks for your interest. The problem appears to be in the hardware - so I'll
be visiting the store where it was purchased, to either fix it or replace the scanner.

Richard

Scanner locked.

Normally that is an issue with the ribbon cable from the scanner to the main board if the latch is in the correct position.
I would securely reseat that cable, bias it somewhat upward.
Check the ends of that ribbon cable to be sure a portion of the silver print isnt pealed back.
No reset code for that. The scanner may have failed also. The sensor inside the scanner may be bad.
You can try going to the Xerox.com site under drivers and downloads and load the newest firmware. But I doubt that is an issue.
Only other thing i could think of would be the scanner not returning to the full home position due to an obstruction.
Or the scan head itself being out of the rail latch, or even the end of the scan head could be broken, not scanning straight.

Scanning does not stops

please check all sensor arms in the document feeder. The sensor arm in the middle just below the separation pad is called 'paper end sensor'. If this sensor arm is blocked or broken the scanner don't stop the feeder.
Another possibility is a driver error.

Awful noise

Please try the following to resolve your issue:
1. Unplug the USB cable and the AC adapter from the back of the scanner.
2. Toggle the Transportation lock (the plastic switch at the back of the scanner) back and forth 5 times, ensuring that the lock is all the way in the unlock position.
3. Reconnect the USB cable and the AC adapter cable, and then try to scan.

Scanner not scanning

Your 'transportation locks' may have been engaged. (Check lower-left-hand-corner of the inside the scanner cover and the left-back side) See the manual: http://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/pr48ph/pr48phrf/maint_3.htm
