Adjusting aircon belt on HZJ75 motor.
1 Loosen bolt at centre of idler pulley. Idler pulley is smaller pulley adjacent to the Aircon pulley.
2 Rotate the adjuster bolt clockwise to tighten belt. The adjuster bolt head sits directly above and behind the idler pulley.
3 Anti clockwise will loosen the belt. Wind to end of the adjustment to remove or replace belt then rewind bolt clockwise to required belt tension.
4 Retighten bolt at centre of idler pulley following any adjustments.
air cont flow sensor may have failed cannot remember on 1.4 model but on 2.0 model its on the left side of the engine. it could be this. a/c dont usually have codes to store. accelerator code is the sensor on the intake on the side. prob just needs cleaning mark were it fits with a pen and take off. on op side there is a hole spray some wd40 in the hole cover it and shack it around . then tip out and leave to dry. then put back on. should be fine then.
is it the ecotec engine fitted 1.8 or 2.0./2.2l or the diesel 1.7 engine.. how long have you not used the air con for. not using it for a long time you can damage the pump the flown sensor. even the temperature sensor. but if the engine is trying to stall with the ac on then the pump may have a fault. ac should be run for 10min once a week no matter the weather. stops you having problems later.
best talk to an a/con technican as there is a size/capacity requirement for compressors. While it may be feasable to fit another compressor it needs matching tx valve condensor and evaporator to work properly. He should be able to tell you if it will work or not
Hi,
Check the a/c actuator, round metal with rod at the bottom, vacuum hose at the side. Located beside the carburetor.
When you turn on the A/C it will push the idle up( via vacuum system ). It has an adjuster at the top to set the right rpm of your engine.
Test also the vacuum hoses and A/C vacuum switch, just follow that black 1/4" dia. hose( vacuum hose ) and check the system.
If you have no idea on repairing the vacuums and the actuator, my suggestion would be to bring your car to the nearest A/C technician to have him repair it.
