I have recently purchased a Hyundai i20 with AVN system. The USB port does not read music or videos. It appears that the USB port and AVN system are not compatible. Has anyone else encountered a system problem and has it been resolved. Would appreciate any help. regards, Pradeep

Hi Pradeep,
To be able to read data (music, video, etc) off the USB you need to format it accordingly:
0. The USB should have data on the boot drive itself 1. The USB needs to be formatted correctly (FAT32 with allocation units of 512KB).
Try this - should work.

My 2011 Hyundai i20 usb port isn't working? Can someone help me?

Hi Kate, Try a 4GB USB stick formatted in FAT32 and having only MP3 files. Some Hyundai vehicles seem to have a problem reading USB sticks above 4GB and the makes of pen drives is an issue too.

I have recently purchaes Hyundai i20 with AVN system. I'm not able to play video on it using USB. It feels like hanging the system. Is there any way I can get the user manual for the systm. OR can you tell...

This problem seems to be common in Hyundai i20 with AVN sold in India.
My i20 with AVN also has the same problem. The Hyundai dealer is not able to solve this issue. He has replaced the AVN system also, with no luck.
I suggest you contact your dealer to rectify this issue.

Samsung LA40C530 LCD USB limit

I have tested the LA40C530 Samsung with a 300GB external hard disk and it works well without any issue. My guess is that it should support 500GB as well. I have played video/music/pictures on my WD 300GB HDD.

I own a 2009 Hyundai Elantra and was told I could plug my iPod into the iPod USB port using my iPod cable (Apple's). However, neither my iPod Touch or iPod Nano work. Once connected, it just says "Reading...

I have used the Apple iPod cable with no problem in the Elantra USB port with an iPod Nano & iPod Classic. You have to change the music settings, skip songs, etc. from the iPod which is distracting while driving.

I purchased the cord made by Hyundai at the dealership, that plugs into both USB and aux port. The music titles, album info etc show up on the radio screen, and you can use the buttons on the radio to change the tunes, view artists, albums... (safer while driving!). I've seen sellers on eBay that sells the Hyundai made one (cheapest starts @ $24+ w/ s/h - link here) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-HYUNDAI-2009-09-iPOD-INPUT-USB-AUX-AUDIO-CABLE_W0QQitemZ230379648893QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Audio_Video?hash=item35a3b2777d&_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116, as well as copycat ones - I wouldn't buy a copycat one (my opinion).

Do you have a case on your iPods? I have experienced the "reading error" with the Hyundai cord on my son's iPod Classic (he has a leather case on it). It seems to do that because the plug going in to the iPod is not making full contact with the iPod because of the case. When he takes the case off and reconnects, there are no further problems.

Hope this helps, Good luck!
