Question about Canon PowerShot A580 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I bought the Power Shot A580 Canon camera in Italy. I am actually in Ghana. I tried to download my photos on my Ghanaian laptop and it says it does not recognise the camera. I understand it must be installed first using the CD provided with the camera but I left the box, Cd and whatever else in Italy. Is there any chance to solve the problem without waiting to go back to Italy? tks.

Do what the pros do....use a separate card reader for downloading photos instead of the camera. Then, you don't need the software. I bought the Power Shot - typrice_68.jpg

Instructions for using power shot 580

The Canon PowerShot A580 uses two standard AA batteries. You may use disposables or rechargeables, though if the latter then they must be charged outside the camera using a separate charger.

You may download the manual and more from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a580#BrochuresAndManuals

CANON POWER SHOT A580. HOW TO UPLOAD PHOTO AND ATTACH

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

Once the pictures have been transferred to your computer, you can attach them to email the same way you attach anything else. The exact procedure depends on the mail client you're using.

I need the software to connect Power Shot A580 to computer

You can download drivers and software from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a580#DriversAndSoftware

You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer.

I have a Canon Power Shot A580 i just want to erase some photos from the camera thats it

Put the camera in picture review mode. Then use the zoom to bring up thumbnail diplays. Use the up/down, right/left buttons to navigate to the individual picture that you want to erase. Then press the "trashcan" button on the back of your camera. Select yes when it asks if you want to delete this picture.

Alternately you can delete all the pictures by again selecting picture review mode, pressing "menu", then scrolling to "erase all" pictures.

I have a new canon power shot a580 and have used a kodak 2gb memory card. I started with an empty card, took approx 30 pictures and then "memory card error" shows up on my little screen. I can't retrieve...

Did you format the card in the camera first to initialize it? Use a card reader to download any pictures on the card to a folder you create on your desktop. Then, format the card in the camera.
