I had this flash Di866 use with Nikon D90. Last week while taking photo on wedding ceremony, suddenly the flash firing weakly and I knew it was the battery. So I bought a new set 2700 rechargeable battery. The problem is when I switch on and everything is set in A mode, but the bounce light did not fire at all. Anyone had come to this and any solution, from Fixya especially ASAP, thanks

Mine does the same after 10 or 15 flashes. It gives you the impression that its drained the batteries, but I doubt it. I have a feeling its some short-circuit or overheating.

Flash not firing, pilot light not on but display is fine

Hi John,
If your problem has not been fixed or a solution not found yet then you may consider this. Flash units are built with many tiny parts; thus, when a single component malfunction, it will render the whole unit useless. You mentioned the pilot light is not working - that indicates that power is not flowing through the unit.
Check the filament of the unit - if you notice some brownish stain on either end of the tube, it indicates the filament has burned out. Changing the type of batteries won't make any difference.
the only option you have now is to service the flash unit

Canon Speedlite 580ex ii - won't work with camera

Caroline, you should try to set the camera on "M" and the flash in 2nd curtain flash sync.

Or set flash in ATG wireless IR ETTL Slave modes and pop-up the flash on Canon EOS-70D.

How do i change from remote ttl on my nikon sb800.

Press the Menu button. Scroll to the Custom Setting Menu. Scroll to "e Bracketing/flash". Right arrow and scroll down to "e3 Flash cntrl for built-in flash" and push the center button. You now have access to the TTL, Manual, Repeating flash and Commander modes. Right arrow on CMD and a menu will appear that allows you to set up the built in flash and the external flash groups.

Pilot light not lighting on 420ex speedlite canon flash

This may seem dumb to ask but have you made sure all batteries are fresh (even new ones can be bad), they\'re inserted correctly observing polarity and the contacts are clean in the flash? (You can clean them using a clean, dry pencil eraser and a Q-Tip dipped lightly in alcohol.)

Also, try mounting the flash on your camera, turn both on and reset your camera to factory default settings through your camera menu settings.

No iTTL mode (or TTL mode) in SB 800 synced with cord to D300

Bingo! That's an X-sync cable, only for firing the flash, syncing it withe shutter - carries out no auto features or communication with the camera.
Don't waste your money on another cable the same. There is no TTL light measuring features with an X-sync cable.
You can, however, get the proper 'off-the-camera' TTL syncing cable either from Nikon or a 3rd party provider. This proper TTL cable can cost a fair bit, I don't know exactly but thinking from $40-$50 to $80'odd.
Shop around, buy from a store where you have the face-to-face enquiry and a return facility if 'they' get it wrong.

The Sigma EF-500 flashes have very small chromed contacts for the batteries. Even though they may not look corroded, they may not power up or conduct enough power to fully cycle up. Use a polishing tip in a dremel or an ink eraser tip to clean the internal wire contacts and the flat contacts on the door. I use dielectric grease on a q-tip to apply a coat to all contacts and cleaned battery terminals to minimise future issues.

Sb 600 under exposure.

You probably haven't changed the camera and/or flash back to TTL mode from wireless mode.  Make sure they are both set to TTL, not commander mode and you should be fine.  Note that the LCD on the flash will indicate which mode it is with a little graphic.  On the D70 you had to switch between TTL and Commander mode to set it up to work using the built in flash as the commander, so you just have to switch back.

Never use Heavy duty batteries they do not have high output. They are for clocks. and they're cheap. Clean the contacts with a pencil eraser too.

POST Replaced Bulb Problem, Error code = 32

This unit will not go into shut down because the lamp timer is not reset. The error you are getting means the lamp you put in is defective or it is not seated proplerly. Make sure the lamp door is on properly because there is a lamp door safety switch that must be depressed properly or the unit will shut down. When the timer needs to be reset you simply get a message on the screen that tells you so, it does not shut down. There are other things that will cause this problems such as the ballast or even problems in the light engine.
