Question about Homelite Mighty Lite Lawn Trimmer

I have a Homelite HLT26CDNB line trimmer. It chews through line very quickly. I'm wondering if the way I put new line on the head is the reason. Can't find good instructions, please help if you can.

After near-divorce over our Homelite Fiasco 2000, we discovered that the line holds out if you only run it at about 60% throttle.

The way you load the line can be the reason, and the pictorial instructions can be somewhat lacking. To ensure a correct fitting: - Ensure you have ample 2" line available - Unscrew the trimmer head , so you are left with the yellow head. In there you will see it has an upper and a lower section. Both sections will have a hole in which each length of the line will be inserted into. - Cut two equal lengths of line, take the first one (I start from the upper one) and insert the one end in one of the holes (see above), then wind it until you are left with a length of 2"-3" and tuck that in the respective opening (top or bottom) on the trimmer head. - Repeat the same step for the other line, until you have two independent lengths of line each routed to its respective guide.
Re-install the head, and adjust to position. If you have done this correctly, you will be able to auto-feed line when you bump the head.

Take the spark plug out and see if it still hard to pull, if not it might have been the cylinder was flooded.

Homelite trimmer, gas, string - y is the string wrapping itself around the head of the trimmer?

The line on my new 26cc Homelite would also feed out by itself. That started me thinking the line was wound backwards. I wrapped the line in the opposite direction as was shown on the bump feed reel and now the dang thing works although the bump feed needs to be "bumped" pretty hard to work. Is it possible that the reel was manufactured with the (string direction) arrows pointing the wrong direction? The new 26cc unit is also underpowered compared to my older 25cc trimmer.

How do I remove the cutting head on my homelite HLT=15

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/homelite-hlt15-ut20602-string-trimmer-parts-c-18807_20299_21185.html

Here is a diagram of it. It is reverse threaded so you have to turn it like you was tightening it to loosen it. Clockwise looking at it from the bottom of the head. But there is a clutch that will let the whole thing turne. The best way is to remove the shaft from the weedeater and hold the shaft with some vice grips. Or you may be able to hold it right above the head, before the shaft tube.

How do I feed string into my Homelite Mighty Lite 26ss grass trimmer? I don't have a manual and I can't figure it out. Thank you!

cut a 6 ft piece and wind it (starting with the middle of the trim line) around the head with each head going opposite directions. When you get it wound up, you will have two pieces sticking out in opposite directions and they can be clipped into the small plastic slots on the edge of the string canister. THen press the ball on, and attach to the trimmer.. Just keep the string the grooves and you will be fine...

OHYEAH!!! dont worry if it keeps coming unwound or pops off the trimmer at first, it will happen until you develop the technique needed for a quick replacement

How to change the string

If it is a duel line trimmer then:

Cut two separate pieces of string, about 7 ft. each.

Stick the end of the line in the hole on the inside of spool.

Wind clockwise onto spool, putting the line that is closest to the ground on first.

Once you have winded this piece on, lock the last 4 inches of line through the slits on spool.

Repeat process for second piece of line, locking the last 4 inches in slot opposite the other locked in piece.

Put the spool on the trimmer, feeding the end of lines through either hole on trimmer.

Before you push the spool all the way on, pull the strings out of the locked position.

If it is a single line trimmer, just wind a single piece of string clockwise onto spool.

Homelite curved shaft timmer line problem

So, is this trimmer suppose to feed the string automatically? If not, then it sounds like the string is wound up on the spool the wrong direction.
