It is not made to drive 4 ohm loads.also if you measure the impedance on the speaker,at some frequencies,it is closer to 3 ohms. This will cause the amplifier to shut down.Today's amplifiers are embellished specs.the old marantz 2325 was 125 watts a channel and weighed 80 pounds. It would eat alive some of the 1000 watt home theater amps of today.Marantz is very nice stuff.

The receiver is clearly labelled as are the speakers, so without further description of your exact issue I can't really know what your issue is. Here's a picture that might help you, these are the speaker positions

Marantz NR1402 AV receiver Going to standby Mode

There could be a short in one (or more) of the speaker connections. Try disconnecting all speakers and turning on the receiver. If it still switches to standby, there may be an internal problem.

I have bose 901 series 2 speakers, marantz 8200 and 2 marantz ma700 monoblock amps how do i hook everything up? Thankd

Do you mean SR-8200? You can't omit the details of a model number if you want a good answer.

Assuming it is...

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Marantz-SR8200-Receivers-manual/id/511ci775/t/2/

Run the 901's with the Active EQ between the receiver Front L and R Pre-Outputs and the mono block amps, one chanel to each.

Pre Out Channel X >>> Bose EQ Amplifer IN, then Bose EQ Amplier OUT >>> Monoblock IN

http://community.klipsch.com/forums/storage/74/1341919/200w%20mono%2005.jpg

I can't find a manual for the MA700. Set them up to a certain volume and then use the speaker setup routines of the SR to match everything up volume-wise. Control will be in the AVR.

Protect mode

I had this problem with protect mode for years, My last ditch attempt was to open up the unit get a artist's size paint brush and gently brush the circuit board and with methylated spirits. Then factory reset the unit. It has never gone into protect mode since.

I have a Marantz SR7200. I have been using for a long time with 6ch stereo with no problem. Suddenly, it starts to make a lot of noise on front speakers in any mode. It just stops this noise when source...

Hello Sergio.

Sounds like a bare wire (speaker wire) most probably is touching your SR's metal body.

Remove all speaker cables, re-terminate them clean (cut, trim, and twist again) and then re-plug them in to the binding posts.

When you go puredirect, it overcoms some filtering circuits of the board and this should be the reason why it stops.

Try that & advise.

When i pout on my marantz sr-4320 receiver it is going to potrction mode i want to know how to reset it?

The protection mode is engaged when there's a shor on one of the speakers outputs. This is a major malfunction and, to prevent the rest of the receiver to get fried, the entire system is put in an emergency shutdown mode - the Protection mode.
You must find out if the short is external - in one of the speakers - or internal - in one of the amplifying circuits. For that disconnect every single cable that plugs in the unit and start it .
If the protection mode is still activated then the problem is internal. The only way to identify the faulty circuit is to open the unit and test them all one at a time, starting with the 4 final transistors (2 per channel) - you need a good voltmeter and some basic electronics knowledge. In the worst case scenario the final transistors for both the channels have been shorted - it will cost you about $100 to replace them. Beware, soldering them in place is a delicate job, use grounding precautions and don't overheat them.
If the protection mode is gone then one of the speakers has failed. Either replace both of them or take them to a specialized repair shop, you can't fix speakers at home.

Marantz sr8001: standby light blinks rapidly,

Hello there Ed.

For anyone that has ever had such an issue with a MARANTZ SR series (6001. 7001. 7002. 8001...etc...) issue a question and I do HAVE the answer.

I could be just anything, or just the low quality binding posts used by MARANTZ for that.

Please describe to me in details how you've connected your speaker wires at the back, and give me description when and how did this problem came up.

Kind regards
Evangelos

SR4300 Centre Channel

Hi...

Try another GOOD speaker on your centre channel.
If the buzz ....buzzes off, it's a bad speaker.
If not , It's in the power amp section on the unit.
