SOURCE: how old is the sanyo unit SPW-X361GH5 pLEASE?

It was built between 1895 and 1901 and is fuelled by wood or coal. Works excellent in a cave but is not recommended for installation in cars manufactored after 1920. Hope this advise helps.

How to I locate the fuse

Hi Sharon
I might be mistaken....but
Washing machines don't use a local fuse or circuit breaker!

The fuse (or circuit breaker) is usually in your meter box.
Washing machines can often trip the safety RCD device also.
If your country uses them it will also be in the meter or distribution box.
Circuit breakers & RCD's are easily Reset!
Cheers

Find out why my freezer is shorting

Is your FREEZER is plugged into a wall socket which is protected by an EARTH LEAKAGE UNIT or RCD [Residual Current Device] ???
Most manufacturers advise NOT to have this type of appliance connected through an RCD as the start load required when the COMPRESSOR "kicks in" is quite large [especially in larger fridge/freezer units] AND will quite often TRIP your RCD. These appliances are better connected to a separate electrical circuit if at all possible and not protected by an RCD.

Tripping rcd out

you cannot
The RCD unit works on an imbalance between active , neutral and the ground wire
the problem can be as simple as a moist connection, insect across terminals , wet dust , grease
the test is done by an accredited electrician using a correct meter to check insulation, wiring installation , elements and controls
you have done your best , now it is time to get it done safely

Zanussi washing machine trips rcd on spin

Hi Ian.
I am assuming your RCD is fitted in your consumer unit (fuse-box)?
If so, then the chances of this being the cause is minimal. The RCD trips wen electricity is not balanced between live and neutral wires - which means some is leaking out to elsewhere - which it shouldn't because it is dangerous.
It would have helped if you had indicated how old your machine is, and how much use it has had but I am currently leaning towards the motor have several winding options that kick in (or not) depending on the spin speed. It would therefore be a motor fault, or something as simple as the brushes are disintegrating (which is often accompanied by hesitant and intermittent behaviour from the motor). These types of faults mean that some of the electricity may be leaking to the motor casing and then to earth.
I would recommend you call an engineer or if you have decent DIY skills, locate a replacement motor (ebay or the likes) and swap it out.
Good luck
David

Appears the main box RCD is just as fast as the secondary RCD and it sensed the same fault that triggered the outside unit and it didn't wait around to see if that outside unit did the job.

Xerox Phaser 8550 tripping RCD on warm up

IF the warranty is still in effect, call for service.
IF no warranty, then check the heaters for the solid inks.
Probably a bad element, or a shorted element.
Unless you are skilled with electrical meters, V-O-M type,
this could be dangerous.
DO NOT ATTEMPT to troubleshoot this with power on.
IF you can use a meter, with the power OFF,
check for continuity and resistance with multi-meter set to Ohms.
BE CAREFUL!
Electricity can KILL!

Is the RCD sensing a leak to earth?

As a test, you could drop the earth wire off the unit and see if the ignitor then works. If it did, then you would need to figure out if there was somewhere else you could earth the unit. This would potentially leave the ignitor without an earth and you need to decide what to do about that.

I hope you can see that I'm absolutely avoiding advice that you remove the earth from your unit in order to make it function. What you should do is get a professional in to correct the fault. What you actually do is a matter for you.

Outdoor unit on a sanyo split unit not going on

Hi, check the box at the outdoor unit. Some have 2 fuses inside behind the plastic cover. One may have blown. Also, check the breaker at the main power box for a tripped breaker. If it is tripped, and keeps tripping when you reset it, your compressor is grounded. You can remove the 3 wires from the compressor, tape them and turn the breaker back on. If it holds, this confirms the compressor is shorted to ground. Is this helpful?

Hob on my hotpoint oven trips my RCD

It is either a faulty ring, or the regulator that controls it is faulty.
You really need a meter to test the ring with to be certain which part is faulty.
Hope this helps.
