Our Xbox 360 will not save. Have reformatted the HD several times, and after a few minutes it says it is unformatted. Do we need a new hd?

Hi,

Yes there is a problem with the hard drive and a new one will be possibility, you can however keep trying to format the drive or use a friends Xbox to try and format it. Problems like this are usually due to bad or unreadable sectors.

Sorry to say it, but that's what a dead/failing hard drive will do. If you're out of warranty, you'll need to get a new one. To be sure, see if you can do anything with your drive on a friend's 360. It can't hurt the other system. :)

I got RROD and was wondering if there was any way to get the stuff I had saved from my old XBOX 360 to my new XBOX 360?

yes there is a data transfer kit. allows you to connect your old hd to the new hd and transfer all your account settings and saves. best buy also offers a service where they will do it for you. there is a charge associated with that. there are ways to copy the inofrmation to the computer and back but that void s the warranty and is not recommended.

Your problem is a corrupted hard drive. Your only option really is to buy a new hard drive. If your gamer profiles are on Xbox Live, you will be able to recover them to your new Hard Drive.

You may need to change your HD settings on the back of the console ( HD setting is actually on cord ) I had that issue when I first went online w/360 . If that does not help u know X box costumer support will repair any damaged system prob. no cost and does'nt take as long as they say.

Game mode on tv

If you have a HDTV then you need to change the resolution to 720i or 720p to support the XBox 360 HD video. If you have a standard TV (non-HD) then you'll need to change your XBox 360's video settings to non-HD. The problem sounds like your mixing up HD video signal. I really need more info about your TV. Is it HD? Or regular?

Hard drive problems

sounds like you have a bad save on your HD you need to go into your HD while in dashboard and delete everything that is on it. This should work in stopping your games from freezing.

If it doesnt then you will need to purchase a new HD as your HD has gone bad. This is rare but does happen.

Plays for awile and then stops the game and says to play this disc insert into an xbox 360 console

Fable,
try takeing off your HD play the game and see what happens if this solves your problem then you will need to delete everything off from it all of the saved files. If you have done this allready, and the system works without the HD in then you have a Defective HD or something has gone wrong with it. You will need to contact MS to see if it is under warranty.

NB123,
your system has done what most first and second gen systems do. They freeze up you will need to contact MS and see if your system is under warranty. They have just upped the MF warranty to 3 years so i think you should be ok. The red rings which you should have three of tell you that your Hardware has failed.
What happend if your interested is that over time the heating up and cooling of your cpu gpu and other things has caused the heatsinks to fall out of place.
