1. Check the VGA signal cable. Unplug and plug back.
2. Use another available monitor to test. It may be the LCD faulty or VGA card faulty.
3. another way, plug to your notebook and turn on to test.

Computer won't do anything, keyboard does not light up, screen is blank

So there is not so much as a BIOS message on screen? Any beeps?
If there is no life at all, you have a CPU/motherboard failure. This may be direct or indirect (e.g. no power to MoBo). Check your connections.
Otherwise, your boot device may not be operating. This is usually a dead or disconnected HDD. Check that it is plugged in. Does it get warm? Can you feel any vibrations from it? It should spin even if your cpu is dead but MoBo is alive.

I have VGC-LT23E all in one computer. It cost me a lot of money. When I turn on cpu I get nothing but a black/blank screen but I can hear the windows sound and fans are running. I just can't see...

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

I was given an emachine T2742, I turned it on and it worked for a little while and then went off by itself. I can hear and see the fan running. It will not come on but will continue to try to start. ...

After running can you feel any heat around the CPU heatsink? Does the CPU fan run at all?
Is it trying to restart and then looping back to reboot?

Try to access the Bios (press Del as soon as it switches on) see if you can get to the bios screen, see how long it will stay in the Bios screen before switching off or rebooting. If the bios has a hardware monitor, see what the temp of the CPU is. 30 degrees to 40 degrees is normal

Then switch off, unplug the Optical drives, the hard drive and floppy drive in turn, try to reboot and see if it is stable with just the hard drive installed.

IF the CPU heatsink remains cool after all that, the issue is with a dead CPU or a blown component on the motherbiard

Have a sattellite m505D. Turned it on and only the power light comes on. Screen stays dark with no activity at all. Tried turning off and on several times with same results.

if nothing is coming up no activity or fan no cpu running im thinking to get your motherboard tested if your cpu is running try replacing your backlight or inverter both are relatively low in cost good luck and hopefully helpful

Dell flat screen started flashing, green light was blinking then screen went blank and green light is on. Tried unplugging etc...time for a new one?

No. It is not a Flat Screen issue. It is a CPU issue. You CPU is not sending signal to your flat screen so the green light is flashing. Try to:

1. Reset OR
2. Unplug the CPU case, Open the CPU, the interchange the RAM modules, OR
3. Same with step 2 but unplug and then plug back in all expansion cards like audio, video cards, etc.

It seems that your system needs discharging from a frozen state.

I sent my laptop to Toshiba and they said they removed the 3rd party memory I installed (although I tried this prior to shipping). I didn't reinstall the memory and now it works fine.

Sony vaio VGN FS 570 no display

Try having your battery tested. There may be not enough power to run everything on your comp.
Anotherthing to consider, if your CPU fan isnt working the bios wont start the O.S. as the CPU will overheat and shut down automatically. Good Luck

No power up on Satellite M35X-s111

Heres the fix:

This requires access to the cpu and heatsink, remove the keyboard and palmrest to access the motherboard, I think you have to remove the screen too. Remove the heatsink and cpu. Reseat the cpu, heres the kicker, press firmly on the center of the cpu while turning the locking screw. Pressing the cpu hard, allows the locking mechinism to get a good bite. Turn the locking screw hard into the end of the turn. Hook up the heatsink and set it back on top of the cpu. Press down on the heatsink over the cpu, fairly strong pressure.

Now test the motherboard, use just cpu, heatsink, memory, power button board and cable and external monitor, you can use your screen instead by just hooking up the cable to motherboard, leave the screen laying flat on the table. Now push the power button with one hand and the other is still applying pressure to the heatsink, no you dont need to screw it down yet. Keep reseating the cpu with varying degrees of pressure if you dont get it go the first time.
The trick will be to get it all assembled with the same results.
There seems to be a problem with the cpu seating correctly, it must come loose and the laptops exhibit the symtoms of no video. It might even be neccessary to insert a wafer thin piece of copper or something in between the cpu and heatsink if the heatsink doesnt apply enough pressure to cpu to keep it seated deep enough to run the computer.
