SOURCE: BIOS Battery Location of Toshiba Sattelite A15-S127

1. Remove the battery (side latch release) and hard drive. The only screw that holds it down is marked F-4 on the cover. (look for the panel with the 2" circle, that is the HD)
Use the white pull tab to move it left then upwards. It should move with little effort. Be careful not to loose the screw from the HD panel.

2.Remove all screws annotated F6 from the bottom bezel with a Pt. 2 screwdriver. (from my count there was less that a 15 )
Depending on the screwdriver, there are times where you might have to push the screwdriver down a bit to get in contact with the thread. Just be careful not to strip the threading.

3.Remove the "B25" screw located near the heat sink-fan vent. Somewhat carefully take your hand, and lift the bottom bezel up enought to disconnect (about 1-2 inches from surface) the battery with your index and midde finger. Look at they way the battery is run, and seated in the plasic clips.
With the bottom semi-open, plug in the replacement battery, and re-seat it in underneath the white ribbon cable, and clips on the housing per the original.

4. Replace all screws (less than a ton).

5. Re-seat the hard drive, by sliding it in first with the metal tab under the plastic housing, to the left, then puling it to the right. Replace the panel with the one, shorter, F-4 screw. Reseat the battery.

6. Return your model car with reciept. If a reciept cannot be found, use it for store credit.

If you wish to test the battery, simply unplug it and remove the battery for 30 minutes. Then power it on with only the A/C adapter. If no CMOS screen appears, you are good to go.

SOURCE: toshiba a135-s2356 laptop no bios screen on power up

Hello,
There are 2 ways you can reset your bios2_bing.gif.

1. On the motherboard there is a small watch battery. Remove this battery along with the power cable from the power supply. Hold down the power button to fully discharge the system. Wait 2-3 minutes then reinstall the battery2_bing.gif and plug in2_bing.gif your system. Your reset is now complete

2. Some motherboards have a 3 pin jumper by the battery. Lets say that the jumper is on pins 2 and 3. Remove the jumper while the machine is OFF and place onto pins 1 and 2. Power on your machine for a minute. (Note: Your system will not POST). Shutdown your machine and put the jumper back to pins 2 and 3. Your reset is now complete

This is a great troubleshooting2_bing.gif step for those of you having POST issues or no POSTing at all. Like other troubleshooting2_bing.gif steps, this will not always work but usually will depending on the problem.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.

SOURCE: samsung r480 turn on blank screen

Does anything ever post to the screen when your turn the laptop on? If not, your video card on the motherboard might be the issue.
Since you mention that the hdd led does not light up, is the hard drive good?

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous. Most times the problemis with the memory or Video Card. Count the Blinking Lights or Beeps and takenote of their pattern (1 Long or 1 Long followed by 2 Short).

Maybe your power cord is bad if you don't get anything to happen whatsoeverwhen you press the power button. And if that's true maybe you wasoperating off the battery the last time you had it on and since the power cordis bad, it was not charging the battery so the battery is drained and the powercord is bad.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugsinto the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside thejack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have totake the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto themotherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

If you removed or put in the CPU and the Heat Sink did you put a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on them? If not that is like metal touching metal and it will short out when you try to boot up.

The other problem might be that either one of your memory chips is bad or one of the slots on the board that holds the memory is bad.
Maybe your memory is bad or the memory slot is bad.Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Battery, Remove the cover that houses the memory on the bottom of the laptop then remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting.

SOURCE: Reset BIOS password for SAMSUNG NP-SF510 LAPTOP

BIOS passwords can be reset or removed in two ways:

1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting or removing using software, here are two software apps to reset or retrieve BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.
You can download it here:
http://www.syschat.com/download120.html&act=down

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools
http://majorgeeks.com/CmosPwd_d239.html

You will need to create a bootable Dos, or Linux or NT cd in order to run them.

Good Luck!

Netbook fails to boot up. Black screen after samsung logo.

I had the same problem today - Samsung updated some of its software last night, then this morning the netbook couldn't boot.

I entered the BIOS - press F2 - and told the BIOS to reset back to its default settings. This fixed it. I guess the update screwed up the BIOS somehow.

Bios password on toshiba satellite L305-S5945 how do i remove?

Here's the REAL DEAL!:
Remove the RAM chips and peel up the black plastic underneath RAM.
Locate the 2 contact points labeled "B500 - XXX".
Find a small screwdriver that you can use to short the 2 contacts together.
Replace RAM and POWER-UP laptop WHILE CONTACTS ARE SHORTED!
That's it! If it didn't work for you, don't worry - you didn't have those contacts shorted good enough.
POWER DOWN

need to reset bios password. download a bios password eraser, or see if there is a reset under one of the panels on bottom of pc. usually not but i have seen them. you can pull the onboard battery for a day but usually cant get to it. best bet is check who makes your bios and get a bootable cracker

Laptop turns on no picture on screen.

when you power up the computer press F8 key then if you cna see safe mode and other menu then your computer is ok only screen resolution issue for that enter in enable vga mode.
then go to control panel and then dispaly then settings then changfe screen resolution to 1024*768
then if you can't see safe mode and other menu then you have reset your bios
For that you need to reset factory defaults settings for bios.
For reset bios u have to open back side of your laptop then u find motherbord circuit there.
pull cmos cell on motherbord for 15 minute then it reset to defaults.
Also u can reset with jumper settigns read carefully on mother bord there is 1 jumper near cmos cell u read there " bios reset or clear"
It is on 1-2 position right now set it in 2-3 position then power up then all bios settings are reset.
then again set it in 1-2 its original position.
