Question about Samsung 906BW LCD Monitor

2 Answers

So. My Samsung 906bw monitor was working about a month ago fine. Then all of a sudden, the monitor refuses to turn on. The power light turns on and off and continues to do that but nothing happens. occasionally it will work. A few weeks ago i just needed to force shut off and turn it back on and it would work. But now its a miracle if it works. i have read online about it and nothing seems to work. I, like most of the people that have the same problem, have Windows 7. So i was wondering what i should do buy a new monitor or take it to get it fixed. When it has worked though, i brought up the device window and it says that it is working fine and there are no problems, so i don't know what to do. If anyone could help it would be very much

I opened up 2 of my 906bw and found 3 caps in the power board bulging. They are C316, C112 and C113 they are all 25v 820uF
I'm going to replace and see what happens. Maybe try a higher V see if it helps longevity.

I have now been doing this fix over a few variations of this monitor and with various bulging caps and out of perhaps 30+ monitors I have fixed all the problems listed here by replacing bad power supply caps. So far its about 90+ % sucess. It has also worked on other brands and I have fixed external power bricks this way. Hope this helps.

It looks like your LCD inverter board is faulty, please get a certified technician to check for you.
If the price of repairing is more than 1/3 of a new LCD with same spec, you might want to get a branded new one as its covers you with 3 years warranty.

I've now fixed 40+ monitors mostly these 906 but also other samsungs and also other brands. Bost problems menioed here have been fixed by replacing bulging power supply caps. Blue power button only. Slow bootup, sometimes up to an hour. Fuzzy , smeared or blurry lettering. The power supply can effect all these things.

SOURCE: So. My Samsung 906bw monitor

This is an old monitor, you should try it with another PC running XP to see if it does the same.
More likely for the monitor this old to have bad DC filter caps by now as you can see in my SAMSUNG and other monitor albums.

Samsung 906BW failure. Screen is black; Power indicator blue and flashing. Worked fine the day before, Alt monitor works on same desktop (Win Vista Home Premium on Gateway DX4200-09/AMD Phenom 9150e...

Try it on another PC first.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Samsung 906BW monitor wont turn on, power switch

rommelnmariv, 906BW will need to use warranty or if you are not a tech with soldering equiptment then unit will need to visit a tech to be evaluated for it's Black screen or It's Blank n Black screen problem. Read my older fixya responses (late 2009) and follow all links. Yes, some of these can be fixed-up (DIY) for under $10. Read my fixya profile for about an hour !!! Maybe you will ask your 906BW " What Brand of capacitors do you have inside you??" Bye for now. 12fixlouie

My wife's mom bought us a desk top p.c with this samsung 906bw

Well, seems like the CPU is the source of the problems, not the LCD Monitor.

The simple way to check it is by remove the cable from CPU unit, see for any sign such us color pattern moving or any sign.

the other way is, try using other CPU or Laptop, then connect it to the LCD Monitor. If it works, then you need to repair your CPU.

Hope it's working

It sounds like the monitor might have switched input modes for some reason. You can use the menu on the monitor to scroll through the DVI and VGA settings to make sure it is using the right method of connection.

Good Luck!

I have 2 monitors connected to 1 computer using a

satservice, What happens AFTER 15 min of FLASHING?? What did unit do or act like 3-4 weeks ago? Is the screen both BLACK and BLANK? or is screen just black and you can SEE win-desktop if you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen at differnt angles? Can you use your Samsung warranty? Will monitor do same when connected to different KNOWN GOOD prebooted to desktop PC? Are you refering to the "power ON" indicator light on front BEZEL as the FLASHING thing? Need more info, but I suspect "shutdown of units "switch-mode-power-supply" due to detection of FAULT CONDITION having been detected with other circuit or with itself. Read some of my other responses in my fixya profile that deal with BLACK SCREEN repair. If this response useful, rate on fixya. 12fixlouie

Actually, this problem can be fix going to power management under control panel. You have to log in in safe mode in order change configuration. It displays stand by monitor and you choose the time that you see fit.

Power Failure

If you mean the Monitor is powered by an external power supply Then that indeed is an option worth trying Simply get a multiple voltage one and set it to the voltage of the existing one. There may be internal problems such as the inverter But this will be a repair shop job.
