  • Unplug the TV and plug it again.
  • Press and hold down the front POWER button.
  • If TV doesn't power up, use remote power on while holding down the button on the set
  • You will be prompted to chose between STORE and HOME mode... select HOME
You should be good to go.

I have an iisue with my panasonic viera TH-46pz85u. Two days ago the tv went off and the power light started blinking (5 times). I unplugged it and plugged it back into a different outlet on my surge...

I have the EXACT same model...and now have the EXACT same problem. Mine was manufactured in March of 08. It has low hours on it too...as it was in storage for about 5 months this past summer. I did find a youtube video of a man in Briton with this problem. He is an engineer and determined that it is a failed comb driver, which of course, is built into the actual screen, requiring the entire screen to be replaced in order to fix it.

I guess I'm lucky because my failure is on the far right of the screen...so if you are going to have 2" of black, that would be a place to have it I guess. Most programming is tolerable this way...but man, I did my research before buying this unit and bought it based on the reviews of its picture quality. It really is the best plasma picture I have seen to date. But now I have to question Panasonic's reliability. Sent a nasty gram to Panasonic Support...we'll see what happens.

Every 10 minutes my Panasonic plasma 720p turns mute

the problem is it is locked in store mode. I had to call panasonic to fix it, this is what they had me do.
1 hold the volume down on the tv while holding the menu button on the controller.
2 after the screen changes to the check menu, hold the off switch on the tv untill it turns off.
3 unplug the tv for 30 sec.
4 plug it back in and turn on the set.
5 select home option
6 your done.

Picture Refresh Problem

Used Panasonic Concierge Chat and they had me do this:
press volume down on the TV (not the remote) and then press menu on the remote for 10-15 seconds to bring up a check screen. After that, unplugged TV for one minute. Plug TV back in and set up for Home. Can exit out of the rest of the set up. So far so good......this was happening only periodically for me, so we will have to see if it works. I was also having to go to TV Video and select Component 1 (cable for me) every time I turned on the TV, but the above action fixed that. Now it goes to the input that was on when the tv was last turned off. Concierge is free. Very cool.

This is the Panasonic Customer Service Answer:

you need to reset the unit to get it out of store mode sir
make sure the unit is on and we are not in any menu screens
press and hold the volume down button on the front panel
and ok on the remote at the same time until the words self check appears on the front of the screen
once self check is displayed unplug the unit from the wall for one minute
after one minute plug the unit back in and it will go back through first time setup
