Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I got a Sharper Image 10 x 25 camera binocular for Christmas. It came with a cd for set up which had a note on it saying it was not compatible with windows 98 or ME. I have windows vista and it seems it's not compatible with that either. Is there a download where I can view the pictures I took? This thing is useless if I can't get the pictures to download to the computer. Please help.

If it's anything like my bushnell camera binoc set up (which I'm quite sure it is the same) as far as I know there is now way to get that thing to be recognized by the OS not even in XP would how it I've been trying to get it to work for over 6 years now and last time I checked out every single software app and fixes I had nothing but a bunch of files that have titles that I can't recognize and most didn't even run. Most links just took me to advertising to use a useless driver update program or a web search site that you would never consider even typing a keystroke on in fear of a virus. Sorry to be the sender of bad news but don't count on it working unless somebody has written a firmware update or some mfg has included a program that will be compatible with a real OS. good luck hunting and be careful where it may lead you to.

I have a mac and the cd that came with the binoculars isn't working on it so it doesn't recognize the binoculars when it's hooked up

Hello.
You have to have a cd software that is supported by mac.
You can check from the official website of the brand and see if there's any drivers or cd available for Mac.

I bought the 10x25 camera binoculars and only one lens will focus using the center dial. Its almost like the other one needs to be focused at the eye piece itself. The pictures are not clear and are...

It is common for binoculars to have one independently focusable eyepiece.  If one eyepiece can be rotated, then that is the case.
If that is the case, focus through the one that DOES NOT rotate using the center control until you get a sharp image on that side.  Then rotate the eyepiece on the blurry side until the blurry side is sharp.  If you succeed at this, from henceforth the center control will focus both eyes adequately

Need to replace an eye cup for sharper image binoculars

An eyecup doesn't change the image sharpness. Have you lost one and need a replacement?

You put the wrong size usb connector in the camera binocular box! Now what do I do. It was a christmas present!

I just took 60 photos with my new x-mas gift. But, I can't download them because THEY INCLUDED THE WRONG USB CABLE! The jack doesn't fit the camera port.

What type of USB cable does these binoculars/camera use? It is smaller than typical USB.

Well, there are standard USB A and B, mini A and B and micro A and B that are recognized as industry standards. Then there are proprietary designs used by one manufacturer. Sharper Image went into bankruptcy and I assume the brand was sold off. So without a model number its impossible to determine who made the item for the seller.

What kind of USB cable comes with Sharper Image 10x25 binoculars

Go onto the www.Sharperimage.com web site if you look it will tell you that Sharperimage are in receivership but they do point you in the direction of a support comapny called N.E.W.

In reality you should be able to buy those leads from any decent camera shop or a place like Tandy

Poor quality

My response to these always makes me sad. There is no way of getting good picture. These camera binoculars are neither good cameras or binoculars. They do neither well. The camera is just attached to the binoculars. What you see through the binoculars is not what the camera sees. The binoculars magnification is not the same as the lens in the camera. It is like holding a camera on top of a pair of binoculars. The camera will take a picture in the area approximate to where you are looking. Digital cameras have a sensor. The more megapixels the larger the sensor should be. Camera makers are now making compact cameras with huge megapixel capacity without increasing the sensor size. The result is worse looking pictures. Not much is different with the cameras attached to binoculars only the sensors are much worse quality than those on a stand alone digital camera.
Maybe not the solution you wanted buts its the truth. If you do want to take bird photos your best bet is a pair of binoculars on a tripod with a digital camera adaptor and camera attached. The camera adaptors that are made in China are not expensive and are copies of some of the high priced units out there. all the adaptor is is a bracket which attaches to a tripod which holds the camera to one of the binocular lenses. That way you see what the camera sees through the binoculars.
