I have found the most common problems with the symptom you have described, to be the SMPS PCB. Sometimes the Y Main will cause the power supply to short out and lower a voltage in that area. Your set has a two year warranty. Call 1-800-Samsung to find an authorized servicer in your area.

I had the same problem and had the TV serviced and found that the y board was blown $350 total. The repair guy explained that the board has a hot transister underneath that slowly leaked onto the board, but says that they can not get Samsung to admit to the problem. Works fine now but only have a 90 day warrenty on the parts.

You would need to purchase a complete new screen as it is not practical or economic to have this done. I would suspect your fault could be a poor connection from the buffer board to that section of the screen or most likely, as you state, the screen is at fault. It is now just as reasonable to buy a new TV than to have the screen replaced

If you shut the television off and unplug for 12hrs this will reset the microprocessor. If this doesn't help, then the power supply has at least one bad capacitor. These are not expensive to replace if you are able to do the work yourself. Most television repair companies don't bother replacing anything at the component level. It's quicker for them to replace the power supply. Hopefully this will be of some help.
