When trying to install software on Win 2000 Proffesional, even Microsoft SP4, I get EXEC FILE CORRUPTED (WITH CROSS ON RED `DOT`)

The Software you are trying to Install is Corrupted So you have get a new Software. Either you can download from Microsoft.com or either you can Purchase from any store.

I need to format my windows nt 2000 professional sp4 pc.what r the things i need to backup? also i need the all the drivers and chipsets and motherboard etc...particulars to be installed after...


if windows 2000 is installed on c drive

put a win 98 bootable cd into cd drive
go to bios setup by pressing DEL OR F2 OR F10 keys on ur key board.
restart and boot frm cd


for back up

take my documents,desktop,mails (if u have any email softwares) ur data. to any other local disk.

windows office drivers of ur mother board
give me ur m.b details so ican give ur driver details

Win 2000 Pro,..Exec file corrupted message, different progs.


OK, try installing the free winzip program from winzip.com. It is most likely that the files were packed using a version thaqt Microsoft's unzip program just can't handle. It's not that rubust of a program anyway.

Then try unzipping those files with winzip. it should unzip fine without any trouble.

The SFC command should also be on the Windows CD itself as well. Try running the command from the CD drive at a command prompt.

Blue screen - kmode exception not handled - ntoskrnl.exe


I feel some program running in the background is causing the problem.

Try using msconfig and disabling unneeded softwares from startup. Then restart the PC and try to shut it down check.


Let me know what happens.

You can move your files in drive D, include your sound files and movies to free up the drive C... The effect, when no more space to drive C, your computer's performance will go slow and soon just stops... You can install games on drive D instead of the inside folder of Program files...

Copying Microsoft Word macros to new computer system


Macros are stored in one of two places, Irene - and you decide where and when you create one. When you select Tools -> Macro -> Record New Macro you’re prompted to either create the macro in the global template (normal.dot) file, or the document you’re currently working on - by default, normal.dot is selected so that the macros are available in all documents you create.

Your normal.dot file is also where all custom styles, toolbars and autotext entries are stored, and it’s possible to transfer all of these - plus your macros - from one machine to another courtesy of Word’s Macro Organizer tool. The walkthrough below explains how to access it and back up your macros to a file you then transfer to your second PC before copying those macros into the normal.dot file on that computer so the macros are accessible from there too.

While this tool is the best way to transfer macros, or other individual elements of your normal.dot file (just select the appropriate tab to transfer styles, toolbars and autotext entries in exactly the same way), if you’re migrating to another PC you may wish to take all your settings with you. If you have Office 2000 or later you can use the Save My Settings Wizard to back up all your Office customisations - including the normal.dot template - and then use the same wizard on your new computer to restore them to the version of Office installed there.

Office XP and 2003 users will find the tool installed with Office -access it from the Microsoft Office Tools menu on the Start -> All Programs menu; Office 2000 users need to download it from here. It’s called the Microsoft Office 2000 Profile Wizard here.

Lost my right as administrator


You have done big mistake that's why you are getting problem.

1)Regarding installation of win XP over windows vista.
You have to install first lower version and then higher version i.e. you should install first win xp and then windows vista. But vice-versa you can't do it.
So my suggestion is that format your c drive then install win XP
after installation win XP install win vista.

2) which operation system do you want to open .
You can remove it using windows tweak utility software wich is freely available on most of the website. Also you can manually edit it.
For manually do this.( i m not sure about windows vista it is available or not)
right click on my computer->click on Advanced Tab->setup and recovery framework click on settings->click on Edit button
You will see the boot.ini file. You can remove the windows XP line from that file.
