Fuel Pump Flow Control Module (FPCM) - LMF
The fuel pump flow control module (FPCM) is a serviceable GMLAN module. The FPCM receives the desired fuel pressure message from the engine control module (ECM) and controls the fuel pump located within the fuel tank to achieve the desired fuel pressure. The FPCM sends a 25 KHZ PWM signal to the fuel pump, and pump speed is changed by varying the duty cycle of this signal. Maximum current supplied to the fuel pump is 15 amps. A liquid fuel pressure sensor provides fuel pressure feedback to the FPCM.
Electronic Returnless Fuel System (ERFS) - LMF
The electronic returnless fuel system is a microprocessor controlled fuel delivery system which transports fuel from the tank to the fuel rails. It functions as an electronic replacement for a traditional, mechanical fuel pressure regulator. A pressure vent valve within the fuel tank provides an added measure of fuel pump flow control module (FPCM). Desired fuel pressure is commanded by the engine control module (ECM), and transmitted to the FPCM via a GMLAN serial data message. A liquid fuel pressure sensor provides the feedback the FPCM requires for Closed Loop fuel pressure control.
If your vehicle has this system check it for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Will take guess work out of it .

The engine control module (ECM) supplies voltage to the fuel pump flow control module (FPCM) when the ECM detects that the ignition is on. The voltage from the ECM to the FPCM remains active for 2 seconds, unless the engine is in crank or run. While this voltage is being received, the FPCM supplies a varying voltage to the fuel tank pump module in order to maintain the desired fuel rail pressure.

I need a gmc safari diagram for fuel pump 1991


I don't usually do diagrams due to copyright laws.
From the fuel pump you have a gray wire and a black wire.
The black is ground and the gray is power from both the pump relay and the oil pressure switch.
The oil pressure switch provides power to the pump once the engine starts.
At the relay, you have a green and white wire that provides power from the ECM with the key switch on. You have an orange wire that provides power from a 15amp fuse.
The gray wire going to the pump, and a black and white wire for ground for the relay.
The ECM provides power for 3 seconds when the key switch is turned on to boost line pressure for startup.

Fuel pump wiring diagram for 2001 chevy S10


The harness is a dealer part or a scrapyard part. The harness itself for jsut the fuel pump as it is set up by GM- the relay coil has one side hot +12 volts all the time, even when off. The ground side of the coil goes to the 3 bladed oil pressure switch which completes the ground circuit when there is oil pressure This is the tan wire.
There is a wire that comes from the ECU to prime the pump and keep it operating while initially starting. This is usually a white wire.

+12 volts usually is applied at all times at cavity 87 in the relay connector and the wire to the fuel pump is in 87A.

The harness from the dealership will list price at about 2000.00 US, and it will be the entire harness that includes that portion for the fuel pump.

If your pump is not energizing, or not staying energized, the oil pressure switch is likely at fault. By the same token it stays energized all the time unless relay is disconnected.

If you are going to add a switch, the easiest thing to do is gut out an old fuel pump relay and solder to the contact parts and clip the relay coil. This does bypass all auto shutoff. The wire will see some fair current so use 12 gauge or 10 gauge.and keep run as short as possible.

    This video is for a Square D switch but the procedure is exactly the same:

    Just remember when it comes to pressure adjustments if needed that the big sprong is for HIGH pressure shut-off and the small spring is LOW pressure pump start adjustment.

    2 power wires in for the power supply and 2 wires out for the pump to run.

    My pump builds pressure to 60 psi but will not go any hire for the shut off what can be the problem


    most jet pumps have a pressure switch to regulate cut in/ cut off pressure. Normally 40/60 psi. The pressure switch should be located at the rear of the pump where the wiring enters. First disconnect the power supply to the pump. Remove the cap where the wiring enters. On the inside of the cap there should be a diagram showing how to alter the cut in/ cut off pressure.
