Same as 6-9-08 freezer ices up, frig won't cool

Admiral 25 cf. side by side with ice maker in freezer door,
# is RSWA278AA, wonder if the "condensate" drain line is clogged up? where the "condensate" drain line is? how do you unclog it? or if the 2 switches in the freezer are working, one works the light, the second doesn't seem to do anything? the fan keeps running when the door is opened.
how and where is the "defroster" i an borrowing a small chest freezer and will do a "complete defrost" again. thanks and have a great summer.
(it has rained for a week and it is very humid) we havent had trouble with it for 10-12 years, now 2 times in a month!

THANKS FOR THE REPLY, SAME AS MINE "FIRST TIME" IT WORKED WELL FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN DID IT AGAIN, THE FREEZER ISN'T WORKING (USING IT FOR A FRIG) AND THE FRIG ISNT WORKING AT ALL NOW, THE BACK OF THE FREEZER HAS A COVER AND BEHIND IT ARE THE COILS, THEY FREEZE UP, THEN NO AIR CIRCULATES, I PUT A STRIP OUTLET ON THE PLUG AND MANUALLY TURN IT OFF SEVERAL TIMES A DAY,( WIFE GOT A BUNCH OF FOOD AS SOON AS IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS WORKING, BIG MISTAKE!) I'VE UNLOADED IT AND PUT AN ELECTRIC HEATER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT, BLOWING HOT AIR INTO THE LOUVERS TO MELT ICE AND FROST IN THE "DUCT", I WILL PULL COVER AND TRY TO FIND WHERE THE DRAIN LINE IS AND BLOW IT OUT WITH COMPRESSED AIR, AND GO FROM THERE, A FRIEND HAD TO PUT IN A NEW DEFROSTER, HIS WORKS FINE, I'LL TRY AND FIND WHERE IT IS. THER IS A COVER ON THE REAR OF THE FRIG, I'LL PULL IT AND CHECK WHATS THERE? AND JUST GO TO A PARTS PLACE AND BUY A NEW DEFROSTER. THANKS AND HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! :)+<

Not sure if this will help but I have/had a similar problem with my admiral side by side (approx 12 yrs old not sure of the model #)and I think I fixed it this morning..
At the back of the fridge compartment I removed the cover (covers the light and controls) the Freezer setting just seems to adjust a flap that sends cold air into the fridge.. around the flap was a mass of ice.. what seemed to be happening was as this 'vent' was blocked with ice no cold air entered the fridge and the temp stayed high and hence the stat did not cut out .. compressor running flat out 24/7..... I removed the ice and it now seems to be working better (2-3 hrs will see what its like when I get home from work..!)

PLHS69EGSS1 Freezer not cooling properly but Frig is OK

This is one time you might need gas. Your freezer needs to be 20 degrees or less for the ice maker to work.

Freezer running, ice maker not producing, hot in middle divder.

The dividing section should be warm, to keep unit from sweating. (by design). Cleaning under the refrigerator was what cooled it down. You cleaned the condenser. The condenser allows the refrigerent to cool down. When it was dirty, the condenser could not get enough air to cool down.

ICE MAKER NOT GETTING WATER FOR ICE BUT THE DOOR UNIT WORKS

I had this problem and eventually traced it to the water freezing in the fill tube in the freezer.  I defrosted the tube and no more problem

Frig won't cool, freezer works fine

Defrost unit completely. You're frosting up. Then, avoid leaving the door open, leaving liquids and food uncovered. Clean condenser coils. If it happens again, you need refrigerant.

Freezer not cold enough to freeze items solid

Here are some things you can check yourself. Does it run all the time almost non-stop? if so check the vents under the front of the frig and make sure they are clean. Aslo check the condenser coil (either in back of the frig,or under the frig)Make sure that coil is clean. The condenser coil has to have contact with the outside air in order to release the heat it removed from inside the freezer.
Make sure you frig has plenty of ventilation ( wall too close on sides and back) Hope this helped. If not then you should have a pro look at it.

GE 25 side by side refrigerator ice maker problem

Assuming the temp inside the freezer is at around 0 or -2 degrees, it should dump ice every ~50 minutes or so. Again, depending on temp's, an Ice Bin should fill within 24 to 48 hours. If your freezer temp is running at around 10 degrees, everything will obviously still be frozen (below 32), but the ice maker will take longer to freeze the water than it would if it were at 0 degrees. Open both doors and place the palm of your hand on the partition between the freezer and Fresh Food compartments... (where the door gaskets seat when they're closed). The temp of the partition should be about 5 or 10 degrees warmer than body temp., If it's hotter than that, you found the problem. Either the condenser coils are dirty and need a good cleaning OR your condenser fan motor (the fan in back, near the floor in the compressor area) is failed or about to fail.

unplug and let defrost. You should also clean the grills off in back and get all cob webs off from underneith. that might help
