Question about Panasonic Vacuums

1 Answer

My Panasonic performance plus platinum vacuum cuts off and on while using the beater bar, this doesn't happen at all using the stair cleaning attachment. It appear electrical contact is being lost where the lower plug makes contact.

The solution to my problem which is located at the lower electrical plug on the long wand was to expermint using a nickel and placing this in an area where the long wand connects with the beater bar section, here there is a gap which allows too much clearance thus losing electrical contact at times and then making contact. A nickel is about .075 thousands thick so I hacksawed a flat piece of metal that was this same thickness, the other dimensions of this little piece are 3/8 inch wide by 5/8 in length, I then forced this little piece in the above mentioned gap which places tension maintaining electrical contact. It works fine now, there is either wear in the electrical contacts plug in, a new lower electrical plug in line will fix this but I can order one later I need to vacuum the whole house so now I can. My Oreck platinum vacuum shuts off after a couple of seconds. Whenever I turn it on it works for 2 seconds then shuts off, any help?

Atek,
You may have received the wrong beater bar for your machine. Some of the Oreck's have an electronic sensor that detects the brush speed and the way they do that is to put a magnet embedded into the brush roll. Turn your vacuum over and spin the brush by hand and look for a metal dot about 1/4" in diameter. It should towards the end opposite of the belt. If you do not see that metal dot, you need to take the brush back to where you bought it and ask for the correct brush. If you ordered online then call them up and ask for a swap. Hope this helps!

Why does The beater bar on my hoover continue to run in the upright position?

Hi there! Some vacuums do not come with the feature that automatically shuts the brushes off when in the upright position.. If your unit is like this, be sure to put the vacuum on the highest setting when using the hose. Also, because the brush-roll continues to spin, avoid tipping cleaner or setting it on furniture, fringed area rugs, or carpeted stairs during tool use. Hope this was helpful!

Dyson roller bar locks when vacuuming

On one side there is a round disc with a groove in it. Dyson has a video on this on their site. You use a quarter to open up that disc and it pops out. Then you pull out the beater bar. Use a very small scissors to cut any strings, hairs etc and totally clean it. Replace the bar back in and put the disc on the end, using a quarter again to lock it into place. IF all the rest of the vacuum has been cleaned of clogs then it will work perfectly!

I have a dyson DC28 vacuum and the power button flashes on and off and the beater bar quit turning. I turned it over and found some string caught on the beater bar which I removed, but the beater bar still...

I had the same symptom with my wife's DC28. The problem was associated with the cam driven height adjustment mechanism. The beater bar must rock freely up and down when pressing on the tabs that the end cam lobes actuate. On ours I found hair and crud jammed in between the end of the beater bar and the side of the vacuum head preventing it from moving freely. To clean it out I fashioned a hook tool by straightening a paper clip and bending the tip at 90*, then took a flat screwdriver to pry the gap open a bit so I could use my tool to clean out the buildup.

I removed the plate that holds the cam in place (6 torx screws) to gain access to the rocker tabs, although in hind sight I could have probably just left it in place. It doesn't matter how you set the cam back into place. It's self aligning with the aid of the micro-switches inside.

Hope this helps

This vacuum keeps getting clogged in the hose and has terrible suction. The women who helps clean my house won't even use it as it performs terribly. Any suggestions

check vac air filter(not the dirt collection bag) also something could be lodged in hose mechanism so there is always a partial restriction. make sure the beater bar is not set too low. check the dirt that accumulates in bag to see that there is not an excess number of carpet fibers in there. beater bar should be clean and spin freely.

It has no suction...last couple of times while using the vacuum it would cut itself off. If I tried to use it the next day it would do the same thing

Hi,
You vacuum is probably plugged up. Flip it over, beater bar up, and remove the plate that surrounds the beater bar. The beater bar needs to come out next. If the belt is good, it will be a little hard to remove. The beater bar sits in sockets that then go ilto the vacuum frame, so note how they come out as you ease the beater bar out and slip the belt off of the bar. There's a cavity behind the beater bar where the vacuum picks up debris. Stuff hangs up there, and you'll need to remove whatever is plugging you up. While you have everything open, give it a general cleaning. Remove anything wound around the beater bar, etc., and reassemble the vacuum in the reverse order.
Best regards --W/D-- -- please feel free to rate this solution - thanx!
