Question about EliteGroup P4M800PRO-M478 Motherboard

1 Answer

P4M800PRO-M478 doesn't function

Last proprietary tried insert a DDR 400 memory module in one DDR2 533 Slot and after, the mobo never ever function. I recomended him to buy a new motherboard and I adquired the damaged card.
One FET that supplies energy to memories slots in motherboard had burned then I changed its and I tried to power on the MB. But its doesn't beep and donĀ“t give any signal of life. At least the processor power suplies on the MB (regulator + FETs) offer between 0.80 at 1.06 volts to processor oscilating and makes me feel that the MB have a possible solution to give it life again.

I had told you I changed one Fet that positively had burned. I placed a IRFZ48N, a more powerfull transistor, unecessary of couse but the only I had in my old things. But the board doesn't function and so I searched for more damages and yesterday I found two resistances of 0 ohms opened. I changed its by a jumper and power on the MB. Today it is running with a Pentium 4 2Ghz, the OS Windows XP SP2.

With many mobos (motherboards) you must place a single stick in a certain slot in order for the mobo to post. In my Asrock it is the #2 slot for a single stick. If I put it in the other slot the computer will not post. Try moving your stick to the other slot and reboot.

I installed the 1GB DDR2 533 but upon startup it recognizes my RAM at half its capacity.

Make sure you use only ONE TYPE of memory modules - DDR -OR- DDR2... Both types CAN'T operate simultaneously!
Also, this motherboard support no more than 2GB in total...

RAM problems -  you have probably installed a DDR memory module in a DDR2 memory slot or you are trying to run both DDR and DDR2 at the same time.

I need to solvthe problem of my new install memory

According to the specs of this motherboard, it supports DDR 333/400 and DDR2 533/400 memory modules. It does not support DDR2 667 memory modules.
DDR 333/400 memory modules can be installed in the yellow slots, whereas DDR2 533/400 memory modules can be installed in the blue slots.
Only one type of memory modules (either DDR or DDR2) can be used. Mixing of different types of memory modules is not supported.

Switching ddr to ddr2 memory

re-examine the memory chips.... sometimes swapping slots (still ddr2 slots) will fix the issue. the other possibility might be that you have to set them up in the bios ... if you happen to have the manual for that board.... make sure there isn't supposed to be a jumper on the motherboard that needs to be changed as well.... some ideas to try... in the mean time i'll go look and see if i can find the manual myself and perhaps i'll have found it.
