Question about Kenmore Freezer 14.1 cu. ft. Upright Freezer with Hose Adapter

1 Answer

Upright freezer wasn't freezing things any longer. I found there was ice on the bottom and the back panel was cracked all the way along the bottom with ice in the crack. Can this be fixed by repairing the panel or is there something else wrong?

Hello, The drain behind the back panel in the freezer is frozen or blocked up. Remove the back panel remove as much ice as possible and pour boiling water in the bottom section under the evaporator. be careful not to touch the aluminum it will cut you or break. you will see the drain hole sometimes it takes a while to thaw all the ice. Hope this helps and please rate me Thank You.

Self defrosting / but there is ice in the bottom

The most common thing that causes this is a stopped up drain. Thaw the ice out of the bottom and locate the drain hole (probably towards the back, possibly behind the back panel) and clear with with a stiff wire or coat hanger.

If the water is unable to drain from the freezer during the defrost cycle it collects in the bottom and freezes there when the freezer is running again.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need further assistance.

I have a Whirlpool Model EV 200N Upright Freezer which is having ice freeze on the bottom of the freezer. What can I do?

If there is frost forming at the bottom to the door, your door gasket is leaking at that location. You may be able to relax gasket back in place with hair dryer, be carefull you can melt gasket. If it is sheets of ice, your defrost drain may be frozen

Freezer model EV171NYMS04 we have ice build up on

There is a drain the back of the freezer that is frozen. Your trickle of water comes from the ice that melts off of the refrigeration coils during the defrost cycle. You need to turn off the freezer, then remove the rear cover from the back wall to expose the coils. With a hair dryer, melt all of the ice. You will find a drain under the coils. Melts all of the ice in this drain so water can get out of the freezer. When this drain is clear, you can put everything back together, and your freezer should work normally.

Defected DEFROST HEATER can cause frost build up on the panel at the back of the freezer, and freezer stop cooling and ice frozen on unit so air could not flow to refrigerator side.Water will coming out caused of unbalanced freezing, and causing the flooding of water in the floor. You must change this defroster heater assembly so it will works normal again..
