How to Save my Laptop from Dying Because of a Liquid?

John Roush...

Quickly

Shut off all power...

remove all batteries.. dry, vacuum or blow dry the offending liquids from the unit.

Time is of the essence.

Consider calling a "service" that uses dessicants to dry electronics... I'm thinking Serv-pro would be a good starting place.

Mine was a cup of coffee... so I followed the coffee ream & sugar with clean water ... towel dried ...splashed with alcohol... and used dusting cans to dry everything

(but I know how to completely burst old DELL C640 &D800s completely apart.

Electrolysis/corrosion is the enemy you must beat...

Time is of the essence... remove ALL POWER...!!!

WHY ARE THE BATTERIES IN MY PANASONIC LUMIX DMC LS80 DYING QUICKLY?

Always be sure the batteries are charged and suited for your device.
Check contacts of the batteries and in the battery compartment of your device. Dirty or oxidised contacts can be cleaned with a dry cloth, or a cotton swap. Never use sharp tools to clean contacts or anything sharp in or on electronic equipment.

Always charge batteries before using it for the first time, or if you have not used it for a long period. 3 months is a very long period.
Always charge sets of batteries (2 or 4) together.
Do not use alkaline batteries unless it is absolutely necessary. In some cases, alkaline batteries may have a shorter service life than NiMH. Alkaline battery performance is limited, especially at low temperatures. The use of NiMH batteries is recommended.
NEVER use manganese (Zinc-Carbon) batteries in electronic devices.
These batteries are only to be used in flash lights.

WHAT IT MEANS BY NO POWER REMAINS BY LX5

I can't find this message in the manual. Power failures are the most common errors with portable gear. You have to rely on the quality of the batteries. Each and every battery can become faulty, with no obvious reason you can think off. Using lots of rechargeable batteries myself, I think I know where I'm talking off. Please to be sure, take another set of batteries, charge them and put them in the camera. Try to avoid alkaline batteries, because they only are capable of doing half the job of an rechargeable NiMH, pro charge. Also never use NiCD rechargeable batteries, because they won't have the correct voltage. (perhaps one or two shots, but the voltage drops very quick to 1,2 volt, its working voltage).
You also can check the camera and the batteries, if they don't have dirty or oxidised contacts. Only clean contacts with a dry cloth. Or when really dirty, with just a little contact oil on a cloth to wipe the contacts. Be sure you dry the contacts after the cleaning. Never use sharp tools to clean electronic contacts.

The camera ran out of battery and I put in 4 new alkaline batteries. Now the camera won't turn on at all.

Unless the batteries are in wrong they must be dead. try to use new ones and check for the instalation some of these cameras use wierd configurations on which is positive and what is negative.

My samsung L730 digital camera will not turn on, i have charged it overnight and am using a lithium ion rechargablt battery that came with the camera

Some lithium-ion really loose their life easily and sometimes quickly. They are affected by temperatures too.I noticed that when I am charging the batteries tend to heat up and I found out they loose their power quickly when you let them charge and leave them warm.Secret to of prolonging their life is after a full charge zip lock it and freeze them.Of course dry them upon use.Do try a new set of batteries it will resurrect your camera back to life.

We just replaced our Scrubbing bubbles automatic shower cleaner. We put brand new batteries in the unit. Compartment is dry. When we push the start button, it beeps at us and starts to spay for not ...

I've found that the batteries lose contact after w while, so here is what I do:
1) take a pencil eraser and rub each of the contacts with it.
2) lightly apply some petroleum jelly to each end of the battery.
3) make sure the compartment is completely dry. Take a small piece of paper towel, roll it up, and, with the pencil, rub the inside of each of the battery compartments.
4) re-insert batteries and try again. It should work!

My chair is not charging. We are getting 34 volts

Hi. A voltage of 34 volts is way to high. Most chargers are limited to about 28.5 volts. You will quickly dry out your batteries at 34 volts. I would say your charger is very faulty.
You have probably already destroyed your batteries at that charge rate.
Are the batteries new or a couple of years old.
I serviced a machine last year, that, according to the owner, had been through 6 sets of batteries in 4 years. His charger had the same problem as yours.
Good luck. Neil.

COBY Portable CD Player uses batteries very quickly

You need to use Heavy Duty Alkaline batteries.. or have you thought of re-chargeables? With batteries it is important to get them fresh, from a place that has high turnover & if you buy cheap ones they are next to useless.

What battery would you suggest for my 1996 Maxima. I live in northern Mass.

The best batteries I've had (and the only ones I buy) are Optima deep-cycle (dry cell) batteries. The red-top battery is great for us who live in the northeast, with the cold of winter. They have 900 crank amps, recover very quickly from a discharge, and last a long time.
