Dvd writer can't read most DVDs but writes DVD successfully.

my sony dvd writer 8x  writes dvd successfully but can't read most of the dvds[except some original dvds], specially those burned with nero 7.But these runs successfully on other computers & dvd players.Also when the dvds are inserted, the DVD RAM Drive(I) icon in my computer changes to CD Drive(I) and shows 0 bytes of data.I'm using windows XP sp2 and nero 7. Please help.
