When I turn my camera on to take a picture the display in either the screen or the wiewer shows lines and out of focus and it's in a purple, black, and white color. It still shows the previous pictures fine but I can't take any new ones. Any ideas what is wrong and where to get it fixed camera hasn't been used hardly at all.
I had the problem, got the CCD changed it worked for a few months then it stopped working once again. My advice, though its a great camera its time to retire it. Problem is I just love the ability to add on filters which is not common in most prosumer cameras

Hi, First verify that you didn't just accidentally turn off the LCD. To check, turn the camera on and press the "DISPLAY" or "DISP" button once. One other thing to check is that faded pictures can sometimes be caused by a stuck shutter. Potential symptoms may also include purple scratchy lines showing up on the LCD monitor and the camera's pictures. Other reported symptoms may be extremely distorted images (one reader likened them to the movie "Grudge"). Or blank or black pictures or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card. You may suspect that the camera's shutter is not opening, but this is not the case. Note that the camera's menu functions should show up without any problem. Please note that your camera must be experiencing these symptoms due to a faulty CCD, and not due to other problems. Note that they're going to look for dings and dents. This is a CCD failure and in some cases had been subject to a recall. Contact Kodak support-this may be one of the recalls and replacement camera could be on its way. They will do it for free of cost. Thank you!!
That is just a setting. It turns off the lcd to save battery or when you want to just use the optics for sightiing/focus etc. Should be one of the menus that show up when you hit the menu button. You should be able to set it off as it is now or have it display for a few seoncds then off and on all the time.
How do the pictures come out? Are they haze and out of focus? It sounds like an internal ccd problem. If the unit is under warranty then the repair costs are covered. If not then you can still have it repaired through sony at your cost. If you need any further assistance please let me know. Thank you, Lee
to make the green square show up just press the shutter button until half (this is called the half press) when the green square shows up then it means that the camera has focused already, if not repeat the process til green square comes out you can press the shutter button fully to take picture when you see the green square...
