    Dear Drifter K.
Thanks mate. Simple solution simply works both for the frig and my pocket. A frig specialist has already cost me $180.00 and provided no help at all.

Defrost it periodically cause if the fan is frosty and do not work the cold air will not be disposed even on the fridge ..and this can happen ...Another thing to check is the dispenser coil ...cause if it freezes this will make it accumulate ice and not cool like it should ..
In both cases a periodic defrost (once a month will fix it )

My GE Refrigerator doesn't work properly.

The two main causes for your problem is the control set wrong and the second one isthe defrost element has burned out... Sometime the defrost clock will go out as well.... always try to set your controls to midrange and if the bottom of the freezer compartment is cold and frosty but the refrigerator is cold ... Remove all the food and store in a backup refrigerator you can rent from an appliance rental center... Unplug your refrigerator and let it defrost for 48 hours.... In the mean time open up the doors and clean it from top to bottom. place a fresh opened box of arm and hammer baking soda in the frige side and one in the freezer side. Plug back in after completely deftosted and place a small plastic cup half filled with water on each shelf of the freezer. Close the doors and wait 8 hours... Open the freezer and check the plastic cups.... if they are all frozen great..now wait for 3 days do the test again if the bottom cup is frozen and the top shelf is not ... its time for a new defrost element or a defrost timer.

Can you confirm your model number? I see what says that your model is a JFC2089HE above your post but knowing Fixya the model number there is automatically placed there and is most times incorrect, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911

Water on shelves

It sounds like the defrost drain is plugged. It is behind the back panel inside the freezer. Either defrost the whole unit, or use hot water to defrost the drain line. Be careful it is located right under coil and the fins are sharp! My knuckles have been cut many a time! Good Luck

The refrigerator is frozen the vegetables area. what can I do to fix it thanks

The proper temperature should be between 35 and 42 degrees. Here are some things to try: If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly. If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf. If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

The vegetable department and the deep side of the shelf - food become frozen ??

I do not know what brand and model you have but there are several controls that you may need to look at. Some of these shelf's have a control lever to adjust air flow. Check your two control knobs at the top and set them to initial settings. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Vegetables freezing

Most side by side refrigerators use the freezer to supply cold air to the refrigerator side. They use a duct through the wall between the two sides to let COLD air come into the refrigerator. That cold air will be blown upon the drawers at the bottom, where you are storing your vegetables.
There are two adjustments - or three, depending that will change how the air comes through. The freezer control will set the base temp for the freezer, and thus the temp of the air coming into the reefer to cool it down. The reefer can have a movable vane that increases or decreases the amount of air flowing in from the freezer, the vane being operated at the command of the refrigerator temperature control. Some have a movable plate that limits the flow of air on a fixed basis.
Set the freezer for 0F. Adjust the refrigerator setting, starting in the middle of the range, until a thermometer on a middle shelf, will read at 40F. Take your time, and check once an hour or so, to let it stabilize.
Make sure that you are not blocking airflow in the refrigerator, as the air must circulate to avoid too low a temperature in spots, such as you are experiencing.

If the problem is in the vegetable crisper drawer primarily, Google "WR49X10045". This is a simple fix kit for a design flaw.
