You either have a bad cassette motor or the belt has stretched to the point that it can't play them at normal speed will need to be changed.

Here's a great forum that may help. Sounds like an internal belt problem.

Nakamichi BX 300 tape deck runs slow in play, belts and idler have been replaced

There is an adjustment in the motor that sets the speed however you need to have a frequency counter and speed alignment tape to adjust the speed correctly. There was also suppose to be oiling of the mechansm at the time the belts were put on.

Ive got the sony set up to a denonm38 it plays but no sound.cds and tuner work through speakers but not tape deck.i havnt played a cassette for quite a while maybe ive overlooked something

Are you sure you have pressed the tape monitor switch or button on the amp or receiver? The Tape Monitor switch is the most common failure in amplifiers and receivers provided the tape deck is hooked into the correct place on the back of the unit. The tape decks outs go to the play in on the amp and the Record outs go to the tape decks inputs.

Teac A 6010 reel to reel while recording my voice it echos my voice

You may be listening off tape and there is a lag of time between the record head and the play head which is what you may be concerned with. This is normal for any three head deck be it cassette or open reel.
Slowing the speed will lengthen the time of the delay and speeding it up will shorten it.

TEAC R-H300 Forward Play Fault

The unit need some work by a technician. The bad thing about the drawer type decks is that it makes it hard or impossible to clean the tape path. I have not seen one of these but I could probably fix it.
Some of your description sound like a loose capstan belt and then other times the Pinch roller is not engaging- they may be related if the mechanism is tied to the capstan motor system.

Music playing backwards

Well, not being there to try some diagnostics, there can be a number of reason that the tape plays backwards at times. One reason is that the tapes are 4 channel discrete tape requiring a 4 track 4 channel deck- this would mean track 2,4 are recorded in the forward direction. A Stereo (2 channel 4 track deck) play tracks 2,4 in the opposite direction. That is why you turn the tape over on some decks. Other possibilities could be tape path skew, that reverse relay is NOT changing the head that "listens: to the tape and that is just the start of what it could be. When a new person starts to use a deck of such age- it can be correct to assume that the deck is not working in some respect. A Tape deck Technician such as myself would know how to determine if the deck was working correct or not and know and have parts to correct it. I worked in the Factory Service in Chicago for Teac and actually have one coming into my shop in the near future. After 40 years of working on these I am still at it. I am sorry there may not be an easy answer to this.

Tape Transport issue

FF and Rewind are functions of the reels, not the capstans. If the reels fail to rotate in response to capstan-driven tape motion the unit will assume a broken tape or end of tape. I think you have a mechanical reel drive system failure. Take it to a shop for evaluation and correction.

My Teac 4070G reel to reel tape deck rewind and fast forward functions work, but the play function does not. Any ideas? Could it be a circuit?

Without actually seeing your Teac reel deck, i suggest you verify that all fuzes in the deck are good..not blown. Also with a tape correctly installed..ensure that left and right tape tension arms are held under tension/ closed by tape tension, also ensure the capstan shaft is rotating... look in back to ensure the capstan drive motor is running.. if yes, and tape still will not play... problem could be a stuck/failed solenoid, dirty or corroded push buttons, or corrosion on contacts where rear circuit boards/plugs insert into other boards.

Play back on Sanyo mr-929 reel-to-reel tape recorder is backwards

I also have an MR-929. The information that you need is in the 'Stereophonic 4 track stereo''. As stereo is only two tracks, there is another 2 tracks in addition to the one you are listening to. Wind the entire reel to the empty spool, and then play that. As you have to physically turn the reel over to do so, you should then hear the other tracks (or track, if recorded in mono).
I use my 929 to play my parents recording of my family from the late 60s, which were recorded on a valve (tube) Ferguson machine, which had a green "magic eye" level indicator, which as a child I found fascinating!

Motor plays at a very slow speed

capstan belt may be failing. check this by removing lid and touch the capstan flywheel when running. if it is easily stalled/slow to come up to speed and or the belt slipping badly then belt will require replacement.
