How to remove the hdd from the imation h100

Use a hammer to crack-open the case.
Not too much force -- just enough to crack it.
Then, you can use tin-snips to cut-away the case.

My incase case for my macbook pro is causing the hinges to crack

I've had the same problem when I had first installed my case. One day, when it was on the table, my friend leaned on it and there was a loud crack, which got me scared. Due to this, the cracking stopped. Turns out, there is a long tab to attach to where the fan opening is. Just flip your mac over, and push down hardly on the edge of the case, this way, it will be fully attached. Incase makes things perfectly, so if you don't install it correctly, it wont work. Hope this helps. Also, these instructions are not found anywhere.

I have ipod nano 8gb that got wet and want to fix it

I have fixed a few electronic devices (phones, jump drives, radios) by immediately removing the battery, removing screws and cracking the case open a little, and placing it on top of a lampshade with a 40 watt bulb. Device should be at least 8 or so inches away from the bulb. Keep it there for a couple of days in the warmth of the bulb. You might want to place a cloth over the lamp shade to keep a little more warmth in there.
You might not have any luck with the ipod because you can't remove the battery fast. It is very important to be able to remove all power from the device. It is also tricky to crack an ipod case open. This is needed to be able to dry effectively at all.
If it works after a couple of days of drying then that's great. (At least crack the case open.) It should work. But with an ipod, don't count on it. If it doesn't work, mount it on a placard as a reminder to check your pockets before laundry day!!

Broken adapter between transfer case and transmission . We're assuming it's an adapter and it's completely cracked open with fluid pouring out. What could have caused this?

Sorry friend there is no adapter between the transfer-case and transmission, if your lucky it's the transfer-case that is cracked and not the transmission housing. What could cause this??? Going over something high and the transmission hitting causing the housing to crack, or a worn transmission mount. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your Suburban running again.

How do you open a Rex II light meter --probably 1970 or 80s. It's an old analogue meter. Runs with 2 coin batteries. I want to look inside the guts and adjust the galvanometer.

These were very cheap lightmeters when sold new and as such were not designed to be serviced.

You aroused my curiosity so I've just tried opening a scrap one and it appears to be glued together, I tried my usual method of cracking along the join line but as the plastic appears to be a type of bakelite the casing cracked instead.

If you want to open this meter I'd recommend using a razor saw around the join line to separate the casing halves. Afterwards I'd recommend using epoxy resin to rejoin the two halve.

Open buffalo ministation case...did you figure it out?

haven't figured it out yet then here's how.... undo the four obvious screws. The ni the mifddle at both sides there's tow 'stick out' bits from the attached to the middle sides on the bottom bit of the case. First you pull the two ends up and twist a bit and use more force than you think you should. CRACK it comes apart. Next itme, better if you do this first time, push a small screwdriver carefully against the grey liner in the mifddle at one side whilst holding open the tow end on the same side. Less of a crack and less force but more hands needed and it open. Cheers from Knobcottage

Cracking noise

Hi terry44,
Try this first. Open the case. Please ground your self by touching any metal surface. Than place your hand on the hard disk drive. Do not hold the underside. Start the PC & continue to hold & listen. You mentioned the system runs for a short time, let’s see if it will crack & shut down while you’re touching the drive.
We want to see if the system still shuts down & you hear that crack. If it’s the hard disk drive you will feel it as well as hear it.
If you feel like the crack came from the hard disk drive than replace the drive because its going to die. Your thoughts about the board could be correct. With the case opened you should be able to pin down where the crack is coming from.

Let me know if this helped & what you found.
Get back to me.
Good Luck!

Mike
