I got the same message on my Eclipse T180 MP3 player. I inadvertently added VIDEOS instead of music tracks and got the format error. Be sure that you're not downloading VIDEOS. Best of luck to you!

How to download songs

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

What video file format does my Eclipse 180g2 4gb mp3 music/vid player read?

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine the type of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI and WMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format that your MP3 player uses. After video conversion then copy the video files to your MP3 player using the USB cable from your computer. I have downloaded songs to my mp3 player but it says

Hi creer_mariah
Sounds to me like you have the wrong format for the songs to play properly on your MP3 player.
Your player only supports MP3 and WMA type audio files (non-encrypted).
You may have to change the format of your songs to play on your MP3 player.
If you have to change format of the audio files, you can download a FREE format converter at this page:
http://formatoz.com/
For information on your MP3 player go to this webpage:

How do i watch movies on my eclipse 180RD 4GB without it saying format error

The format error is a problem with your media player only being able to play certain types of media. Your media player plays only AMV video formatted files. The solution to this problem is to convert the videos you want to watch to the AMV file format before putting them on your player.
You need to download a converter: http://www.amvvideoconverter.netThen convert the files to AMV files. Then you add them to your media player as you normally would.
This SHOULD work.

I downloaded plenty of music on my eclipse cld2 mp3 player an it reads on my compuer media player but i cant find out how to play it on my mp3 player its getting really irratating please help!!!

MP3 players can only play music that are in mp3 file format. If you copy music files to your MP3 player that are not in this format then the MP3 player cannot play these music files.
To convert/rip music files in mp3. file format, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-
