SOURCE: dish washer wont drain

HI. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Why does my whirlpool dish washer take in water and then after 30 seconds just drains the water?

Most new dishwashers will try to heat the water after filling, if the heater doesn't respond, can't sense the temp, or the wash motor doesn't respond to a full tub, the control will abort the wash cycle and drain out... What is the model number? I can get more specific.

How do you clean filter on whirlpool dishwasher du1055xtpq4

The filter will be located in the bottom of the dishwasher. There should be a round cylinder. Just pull it up. Rinse off the screen carefully so you don't poke a hole in it. If you do you will need to replace it. It may be clogged with a hard white solid. This is from hard water. Just soak in a drain clean for an hour to soften and carefully scrape off with a wooden tool. The other filter is a larger 1/2 circle screen. Pull it out and rinse off. Finally - very important - check to make sure your washer drains. If you don't hear the sound of water being drained out of the washer check the anti-siphon cap that sits on your sink counter. Pull off the silver cap to expose the tube cap. Use needle-nose pliers to remove the plastic cap. Debris gets trapped in there and doesn't allow the dishwasher to drain.

After running a full cycle the dishes have a film left on them. Sometimes soap is not rinsred off the dishes. Tried different soaps for dish washers. It seems the only thing to take the film off of the...

Film on dishes post cycle is caused by 2 things.... Poor water flow during the wash / rinse cycle.... i.e clogged sump inlets or restricted drains. Clean the drain hose first. Start at the cink connection and clean EVERY connection and in-line componenet from the port hole at the sink connection all the way back to the drain hise connection port at the dishwasher.

If you still have dirty dishes post cycle after drain cleaning... then remove the lower wash arm support and clean the accumulator / sump area thoroughly. See this link: (items 1 and 4) http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5140844&diagram_id=28222738#d28222738

Test again.

If the problem persists you will have to gain access to the pump impeller. Inspect the impeller, and pump housing for damage. UNDER the dishwasher. Item 22 of the above link.

This should get your diswasher performing properly again.

I used this model number as a reference: GU2400XTPB1

Dishwasher will not drain

If you can close the door, turn the control to drain and, can hear the motor running; you have a clog under the pump screen in the back of the Dish Washer preventing the pump impeller from turning
if you hear nothing: reset the house circuit breaker.
to fix: while the DW is on turn off the DW house circuit breaker then remove the pump screen and, remove the broken glass etc. from the pump then: repower and, test.

Whirlpool Built-in dishwasher Model DU8700XB -O

Most dishwashers have a soil separator which separates the soil from the water while it's washing. When a wash cycle is over a valve opens in the separator to allow the soil to go down the drain. If it's not working properly the washer will leave a film or food particles on the dishes.
It's under the lower spray arm. Post your model number and I may can find a diagram for you. Dishwasher- Inside the doorjamb on the top, left or right. On the door edge top left or right. Portable models on the back.

Whirlpool washer model ghw9150pw0 has an error message of f2. The washer does not go thru the cycle and now the door won't open. Help whats wrong

This error code indicates that drain times are longer than it should be
Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
Make sure the drain hose is not kinked or clogged. Straighten the hose for adequate water flow. Remove any blockage from the drain hose, drainpipe or utility sink. Use the U-shaped drain hose from on the drain hose, and secure the drain hose.
The most common cause of a slow drain is the drain pump screen is clogged with lint. Unplug the washer and remove the bottom front panel with 3 screws on the bottom. The drain pump will be right in the center usually white in color. There will be about a 3 inch piece that can be unscrewed by hand. Have your wet vac ready because when you start to unscrew this all the water in the machine will come out here. Once all of the water is empty completely unscrew and pull out. You will now be looking at the drain pump screen which with the f2 should be full of lint or debris. Clean the screen thoroughly and reassemble. If this does not fix your problem you will need to check all the hoses going into the drain pump for anything blocked in them. If all is clear you will need to check for 110 volts at the pump when the washer is in drain. This should only be attempted if you have had training with live voltage. If 110 volts exists the drain pump will need to be replaced.
Thank you
